I've had audiologists be vehemently against any kind of support other than hearing aids. They said I was lazy for relying on a speech-to-text app while everyone was wearing masks. That relying on lipreading was bad and that I should just 'train my brain to hear'.
They're ableist.

Completely agree. As much as we have all lost a year, and yes some of us (say uni students) will feel like they've missed a key part of growing up, we must not forget that most of us will have many many years ahead of us. Older people don't.

They always do this. Anytime a word or phrase is used to identify a group as the majority counterpart of a minority group, they start whinging that it's 'offensive'. They did it with the deaf community when they found out we call non-deaf people 'hearing people' or 'hearies' 🤦🏼♀️

When I say "I can't hear you" what I mostly likely mean is "I can't understand you".
My hearing aids allow me to 'hear' the noise but my brain can't make head or tails of it.

It doesn't help that churches rarely make spaces for single people. Concentrating on students and then jumping to young married couples and young families makes it seem like the only way to fit in is to assimilate with these groups.

It's really intrusive, when you think about it. It means someone has to announce to a possible stranger about their disability. What if they're not comfortable doing that? It has that "what's wrong with you" Q from non-disabled people vibe. Like being forced to explain yourself.

As a christian disabled person, unsolicited prayer for disability is not okay. You can't love the "we're all made in God's image" but as soon as you see a disabled person it's "no I don't like the way you've been made, you should be more like me". It's very unloving.

Churches I have attended chat a lot about how they respect singles and that, but when it comes to putting their money where their mouth is? Rarely anything comes up practically. They don't make spaces for us, and there's an awful lot of subliminal pressure to strive for marriage.

This is so silly. These horses are trained to withstand massive crowds and noise. Their entire 'career' is based on them being so well trained they can have a drummer on their back making a racket and still do the task. You'd have to do something pretty radical to spook them.
