In my experience, they just hate anything that looks "anime" or "too japanese". Still remember this one dude who was praising Dark Souls by saying he hates stuff like DMC because it's "anime" and lost his shit when I pointed out that DS is just a Berserk reference in game form
I love how Action RPGs have free hand to go out of their way to water down and oversimplify their RPG systems whilst having the game be 90% comprised of combat encounters, yet can't complain about combat being shallow because "it's an RPG, not Devil May Cry"

O Miyazaki já disse mil vezes que os jogos da From são sobre superar desafios. Por isso não tem Easy Mode: isso derrotaria o objetivo do jogo ao permitir que o jogador “supere” desafios abrindo o menu e trocando a dificuldade. A discussão não é sobre você, é sobre game design

Their brains can't keep track of the machanics in the OG GoW games, so they mash a basic combo (SST) and say it's a button masher. In DS they only need to keep track of 2 buttons (R1 and Circle), so it's "good combat"

Remind made me roll my eyes cause it mostly just made me replay the ending sequence. Limit Cut was enjoyable, but all these bosses trying to one up that Roxas fight from KH2 are not really why I like these games.

The term sounds more dumb if you think about it for a sec. Character-Action game, an action game that has a character. It's the videogame equivalent of "it's focused on the characters, unlike other mecha anime"

The other day I installed Devil Daggers to see what it was like and was impressed because there was no story, no bs, the game just plopped me into action out of nowhere. Mad respect for that

Started well with a fair point. People need to stop calling devs 'lazy' and look into the reality of the constraints in game development. But they just had to go and make the whole thing about themselves, didn't they?

Ngl, feels refreshing to play NEO TWEWY and see stuff like wolves circling around and making themselves hard to hit, Grizzlys being paired with small and faster enemies, ravens that like to lift you up mid-charge and make a pin unavailable etc. Enemies are not just punching bags
Dante has a very limited moveset compared to the most recent entries games, but every single one of his moves have purpose and are closely tied to the enemy design. Stinger can punish Phantom's blast attack, Ifrit's charged punches can prevent Nightmare's cores from breaking etc
