'You're the leader of the Green Party!'
@BenKentish
challenges the Green Party's Adrian Ramsay, who is opposing the establishment of electric pylons in his constituency.
I will absolutly die on the hill that hex election maps need to be stopped. They are geographically nonsense and make it impossible to visually work out what seats have swapped
It seems astonishing really that "aides" to the impartial head of state are basically able to lie and brief and spin without any repercussions what so ever about that head of states family 🤔
A Sussex source says that the Queen was the first family Harry called after Lilibet’s birth and during that conversation, he shared the couple’s hope of naming their daughter in her honor. Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.
This is not a surprise but absolute kudos to Novara for sitting him down and getting him to say it.
Hopefully this means people on the 'left' stop idealising him. Just cos someone agrees with you on Gaza doesn't mean that are in any way good.
NEW: in an interview with
@novaramedia
, George Galloway repeatedly says that gay relationships aren't "normal", and children shouldn't be taught to think that they are.
Full interview out on Sunday at 3pm.
Have been out delivering in Oxford this afternoon and saw this adorable picture in a window in support of

(Points for them not fully putting the diamond as a Square, but not quite the right angle 🤣)
So terfs are having a massive tantrum over the govs easy read guidence for the gra consultation.
This is actually very sinister. They are objecting to the gov making it easier for people with disabilities to be consulted and informed.
So we can add abelist shits to the list
The Conservatives only held on to 53% of their 2019 voters, with 25% going to Reform UK and 10% to Labour
There was significant Lib Dem turnover – despite winning about the same share of the overall vote in 2024 as they did in 2019, they only held on 49% of their voters from the

Almost certainly a deeply unpopular take, but even if we had to stay in Afghanistan for another 20+ years that's still better than allowing the Taliban to take back over.
There are still US troops in Germany, so why do we have to totally withdrawal from Afghanistan?
If only the Greens had tactically voted we would've seen the back of Esther Mcvey.. But no, the likes of Owen Jones told people it was safe to vote green. Great work.
England’s Green Belt was 1,639,650 hectares in 2008/09 but in 2017/18 it was 1,629,510 - a reduction of 10,140 hectares.
Some 5,070 hectares were lost in 2017/18.

I've been a member of the Lib Dems since 2014, and in that time I have never had such a positive response on the doorstep. It's genuinely astonishing.
Our message is really getting through, and people are really starting to realise labour is just a complete mess.

You had a new Fallout Game relatively recently. Consider gap between FO3 and FO4 was 7 years (NV wasnt bgs) and gap between ES4 and ES5 was 5 years and you expect a new "normal" Fallout game after less than 3 lmfao?
They are trying something new and having variety in the series
People that need to resign or be fired:
- Cressida Dick
- Everyone else senior in the met, and anyone involved in decision making tonight
- all the officers at the vigil
- Priti Patel
- anyone with knowledge/responsibility in the GLA
- whoever the fuck writes BBC headlines

You mean more expensive to install, slower to install and more expensive if there are any maintenance or upgrades needed. So much for the climate *emergency*
I've written for
@libdemvoice
setting out the importance for the party to make sure that housing doesn't become yet another case where the party betrays young people.
It is essential that
#ldconf
backs national housing targets and to
#buildmorehouses
@scottishliberal
I mean even removing the qualified professional element. A parent who's under 25 can make parental decision on behalf of their u16 child but they couldn't make decisions about themselves. Literally just mad.
10/10 to all the twitter armchair activists giving advice to libdems on how we should be doing our ground game on by-election polling days. The true experts.
Been great to be out in my designated target seat to get
@LaylaMoran
reelected today!!
Some really positive canvassing this morning and now getting some delivery out! (Love a high quality local newspaper 😍)
As a LGBT person I am in no way worried about the record of
@SamGyimah
, the issues around the turning bill were about him being a minister and a result of party politiking. His record is great and I'm absolutely thrilled that he has joined us
This is the correct take. The idea that boycotting Eurovision is going to make any material difference to what's going on in Gaza is just stupid.
'Boycotting' has turned into vitue signalling rather than being used as an effective tool.
Queers for Palestine sent me their letter asking me to withdraw from the ESC earlier this week and I responded to them directly, I’m sharing my response here alongside this mornings collective artist statement 🩷
Really happy that the Young Liberals now supports a General Strike, which looks to be more and more necessary as time goes on and the Tories continue their war on workers.
(Also go join a Union)
@harvey_21_x
It's content for people who don't know that the Tories generally have bigger rural and labs smaller urban seats. But that's fixed with a graph!

Liberal Democrat manifesto pledges to take the UK back into the EU single market
"these measures will help to restore the British economy... and are also essential steps on the road to EU membership, which remains our longer-term objective"

No hate to Iain but tbh this is what ends up happening when you spend too much time standing up and making space for the extreme bigoted end.
If you aren't pure enough and don't peddle anti-LGBT conspiracies they will turn on you.
I think it's really disappointing that the party leadership has decided to attack young memebers, in particular young women, as Thatcherite and extreme right wing.
Honestly expel any PPCs who are trying to take the party hostage and threatening to step down for the pro-brexit anti-Semitic labour party. It's bringing the party into disrepute at the worst possible time.
Hi
@LizWebsterLD
so as the author of the motion there are just a few things id like to clarify here.
Firstly, at no point did the motion comment on your views on trans rights, the mentions of trans rights were positive ones in favour of Mark and Lucys great records.
The party needs to have a serious conversation about our Lords at some point, and the total lack of accountability they have with no repercussion re: the whip.
Especially when you have some dogpiling on young members and directing mass disgusting abuse towards them.
@liarpoliticians
@tomhfh
When you register to vote, you also register and agree to take part in the electoral process that includes political parties getting your name and address. You get told this on the website (where is also gives the option for anonymous registering if you have a safety reason)
Am disappointed at the lack of sweaty clock. But great reception all day for
@EmmaMidBeds
. People are sick of the labcon status quo and want something new.
Ended up in the
@TheOxfordMail
but I actually take great issue with the dishonestly and misleading behaviour by them and
@NoorJQurash
It was not clear the article would be a hit piece on the great literature we have put out, and they used a second photo without permission.
It was the membership that deselected him. Member democracy is an essential and core part of the party and it's entirely right that they should be able to deselect PPCs who don't fit with their values
Parties shouldn't just be vapid open tents with different colour rosettes
Libdems have a proper vetting process for potential candidates and not leave it to party members/the press/twitter once they are already announced challenge
Honestly I'm mostly disappointed that more PPCs haven't said terf before.
Maybe we should start a pledge that all PPCs have to tweet out "fuck off terfs" or something 🤔
PSA: please don't glue the brexit 50p coins outside or inside wetherspoons.
1) if it's outside the council will have to deal with it
2) if it's inside some poor cleaner will have to deal with it
3) Tim will love the attention and use it to go on TV to rant and nobody needs that
🚨 NEW: Starmer says he AGREES with Sunak's stance on trans rights.
When asked by the Guardian if he agrees with Sunak's recent statements about trans people, Starmer replied: "Yes, of course".
He added: "a woman is a female adult".
Am really happy to be a part of a youth wing (alongside the amazing Lambeth local party) that is doing such great policy, with the added bonus of how much it's triggered the telegraph
🟠 Menstruation is “not just a women’s issue”, Liberal Democrat activists have said in a motion chosen to be debated at their party conference next month
The Green Party's housing policy is an absolute scam
They say they want 150k *more* social homes/year, but that includes buying existing housing stock to turn into social housing, which will just push up house prices more at cost to the taxpayer.
Just build more bloody houses.
Homophobia, bame representation, general diversity and ageism are absolutely major issues in the party.
Do you know who aren't better on these issues than us? The fucking Tories lmfao
Genuinely just lol
Fancied a change of scenery so popped over to Bicester and Woodstock to do a bit of delivery for
@CalumMillerLD
Hopefully we get to turn as much of Oxfordshire orange as possible!!
Wes Streeting being on a pride list and infront of a progress pride flag is a sick joke right?
In a few weeks he is going to be one of the leading and most powerful transphobic and queerphobic figures in the country.
Astonishing that libdem gays worked out it was a honeytrap within like 5 minutes of talking to them but senior Tory MPs lacked the sense to think "hmm I am a senior Tory MP maybe I should proceed with caution"
I’m deeply concerned at news that Wes Streeting is considering making the ban on puberty blockers permanent.
Sensitive healthcare decisions are profoundly personal and are best taken on an individual basis with appropriate professional support - not by the health secretary.
"There is actually far more, if we are honest, in common between Labour and the Conservatives than between Lib Dems and Conservatives." - nominated Leader of the Tory Group
Put that on every fucking leaflet and never stop shouting it I stg
Sorry wait it's £50,000 since 2016? A massive government department spending like just over £6k a year on light refreshments is insanely reasonable. Tf is this story?
What I find depressing about Biscuitgate is
@DefenceHQ
’s response "Limited refreshments are supplied in a small number of diplomatic meetings and such spending continues to reduce." If we believe reducing such spending invites high performance we’re fools.
Honestly the biggest issue that faces a liblab coalition is Liberal Democrat Conference. I'm 2010 the party had a delegate system now it has OMOV.
Every party member would have the right to attend the conf that agrees a coalition, and I'm not sure it would necessarily pass
So glad to be out on eve of poll to get the message out that
@EmmaMidBeds
will protect the countryside, unlike Labour and the Tories, while delivering on the parties commitment to 380k houses (inc 150k social houses) which is more then both Tories and Labour!!!
Just going to put out there that if anyone ever has any issues or concerns around safeguarding or welfare, to contact young liberals safeguarding. However small please contact them.
They can also assist where appropriate with complaints to the party.
Tomorrow
#ldconf
has a clear decision - do they want to send a message to young people that we take the housing crisis seriously on a national level?
We cannot allow housing to be another betrayal of a generation and have a policy that requires an essay to explain the nuance!
The Young Liberals are absolutely staunch in their desire to see the Party keep a national housing target.
Tomorrow, Conference will determine what message they want to send to young people across the country.
@britainelects
@dcyfor
I'm convinced that if you polled the British public about if we are going in the right direction during a nuclear war, at least 20% would say right direction and 20% don't know.
Really great to hear
@lucianaberger
make a clear, liberal and coherent case for trans equality on
#r4today
. It's so important that the next parliament finally gets GRA reform passed and stops kicking it down the road.
Was only a matter of time before Liz switched from LR and switched to YL too. The distain and disrespect that Liz showed to YL and young party members was foul
Many many YLers have been party members long before she was and are much more dedicated liberals than she will ever be.
Watching Sunak's speech in the kings speech debate. Where the fuck was this guy while he was prime minister and during the campaign? Successfully self-deprecating, funny and witty
But im actually worried more than anything by this statement today. You talk about trans rights not being a priority, but for many dedicated party members (including but not limited to YLs) the relentless and scathing attacks our trans friends and colleagues face *is* a priority
I'm going to be honest
@markpack
there are only so many more times you can say "liberal youth" before we riot and coup the Federal Party.
We have been young liberals for _years_
If Queen Elizabeth is able to get behind Voter ID to secure their elections, Democrats should be able to do the same. This shouldn’t be a controversial proposal.
We are not just some "group" as you describe us, we are the often taken for granted backbone of campaigning and the future of the party. I would also note many of us have been dedicated members much longer than you, this is our party and we have the right to decide its future.
This was the most confusing bit. The one upside of the BBC coverage (with all the good personalities leaving the BBC) was them making hay of covering every count. Except they just didn't?!
But remember kids, the big threats to local news is BBC local reporting and political parties putting out literature that looks a bit like a newspaper but has party logos plastered all over it and an imprint.
Imagine going back even to 2015 and saying that in 4 years time Heseltine would endorse LibDem MP Chuka Umunna. Everyone would think you were mad.
Oh how things have changed
EXCLUSIVE
Kemi Badenoch used first meeting of shadow cabinet to criticise Rishi Sunak's election campaign amid concerns colleagues are failing to grasp enormity of defeat
* Badenoch said that Sunak's decision to call an early election without informing his Cabinet was a mistake
The choice is clear in this election, for both 18-24 year old and 25-49 year old age brackets the Lib Dems are second place and the only challengers to Labour (source: YouGov)
Vote to get the Tories out. Vote for a real opposision.
Vote For a Fair Deal. Vote Liberal Democrat.
Am loving seeing the massive number of UK tiktok influencers talking to their audiences about how disgusting the Tories attacks on trans people are.
But Labour are only better in that Kier isn't being quite as vocally transphobic, only
@LibDems
are solid policy wise on this.
We've had a century of con/lab rule and a century of managed decline and incremental reform. The idea that labour should just get a free run when they want to continue that it nonsene.
Voters will vote how they want, the real answer to this is PR (which lab opposes).

There are many many many men here, far more than there are women. We did plenty of mixed group pictures and literally nobody had a problem with her doing one selfie with just women.
Grow the fuck up and stop acting as if men are even remotely oppressed in the party.
What the actual fuck is the dystopian timeline we have ended up in where fucking Theresa May of all people is calling for caution in the Home Secretary being too authoritarian
⚠️When

And IT IS.
This
