It is though. It's an alkaloid neurotoxin. Tobacco (and several other plants) use it as a defense against insects, and it is the basis of many "organic" insecticides. ~50mg is a lethal disease for most people, but since it induces heavy vomiting, a lethal oral dose is like 200mg.
