@Danger_Things @saraschaefer1 That's the big difference between Carlin's fight for free speech and these fragile comedians of today. Carlin was arrested for "profanity" when really it was for criticizing the church. Today's comedians get criticized on Twitter and they act like it's the same. It's embarrassing.

@GiantSizeBort It's true! Carlin wasn't mad, but he recognized his act had gotten stale, and Moranis's skewering impression was a big motivator to eventually update himself for modern times.

@AndrewYang I see blocks full of empty "for rent" storefronts with people selling everything you can think of on foldable tables on the sidewalk in front of them. The problem here is not the license status of the vendors.

@fuckyouiquit FedEx us a totally different animal. For the most part, each FedEx route is bought by an independent contractor who hires their own hourly staff. It is much harder to unionize without the central office being in control. I mean it should still happen if course, it's just harder.

@fuckedupfoods I read the article this was from and I am wondering if anyone remembers what it was. It was quite controversial. It was a review of some pretentious 20 course meal and in stead of calling the chef a genius, they just crapped all over the experience.

@BenShh1 Les Claypool in Primus. Or how about Gene Simmons? It's an interesting thought exercise to really think about it. I think the real question is that is there a bass player who is their band's most famous member but isn't their lead singer?.

@JohnCleese The problem here is power dynamics. The Transgender community is actively being oppressed by governments and other establishments in power around the world that cause them harm, trauma and death. It's only equal and polite debate when both sides are treated equally.

@MickyRivas2 @Shogun_lux No, the concept behind the modern prison system was, in fact, to rehabilitate people and put them back into society. It was supposed to be an alternative to capital and corporal punishment. It failed, which is why people accept it as simply punishment.

One time when the ring was being used, he took the other students to the various odd rooms in the back of the ECW Arena and taught us how to backstage brawl. Whips into pillars and stuff like that. He figured we would need it one day. I thought of that seeing the fight with Trent.
I think everyone who has trained with Chuck Taylor should quote-tweet this with a story about training with him. I’ve heard a few and they all crack me up.

@EmpTigerstar @AltHistoryHub Yeah it's a common frustration that people think all white supremacy comes from straight white people. It doesn't. Don't get me wrong, most of it does, but whenever it doesn't, the racists tend to amplify those voices because it suits their narratives.

@ravenscimaven It was extremely common back in his day for white singers to sing songs by black singers for white audiences. That's a large and deep topic. Way bigger than a tweet. Elvis was a talented singer but he was most talented at taking black music and making it white.

@ChangaYT This Illustrates a point I've been making to anyone willing to listen. Dark and Elevation are akin to WWF Superstars in the '90s. Good shows that showcase a wide variety of talent and a significant piece of the puzzle. WWE Main Event just. isn't. Equating the two is incorrect.

@RileyGrant @doggtism The problem with bringing dogs into supermarkets is that invisible pet dander gets everywhere. Holding it in your arms keeping it in the cart makes it much easier for this dander to get on the produce. A small percentage of people are severely allergic to this and could die.

Proper comedy roasts in the 70s and even the CC ones of the 2000s were done among groups of people with the express purpose of insulting each other for comedy. A lot of artistically illiterate people watched that and came away with "insulting people is good," missing the point.
Imagine having a Netflix special so bad it gets taken down & now you have to babysit the misfit toys of Austin while being the closeted Robin to podcaster Batman. The roastification of comedy has ppl thinking they’re good when they’re just unlikable & that’s the saddest part.

@kathbarbadoro I don't have much of an opinion of T Swift, but in general, I've found it distasteful to judge someone by their significant other. Especially women. Especially people you don't know personally. Taylor is especially prone to this because her fans like to see her as *perfect*.

@AltHistoryHub The narrative today is very 1984 (cliche, I know.) The red and blue states are at war and have always been at war. It simply isn't true. I heavily recommend the book "The Red And The Blue" By Steve Kornacki. It explains how American politics got this way very well.
