Born and raised Calgarian (with a stopover in BC). Very focused on the issues around me. Dad/Husband/Etc. My views are my own, and not my employer's. He/him
@RevDaniel
Someone on my timeline posted the reply "At least people would believe me if I said I got attacked by a bear."
How true is that, as well. Oof
@HongYYCRealtor
Calgarians did no such thing. Very few Calgarians signed a petition, though we can't accurately say for sure how many were real or even from this city.
Saving water for others is the least you could do as a human
@robbfergusson
At one point, we had a conservative majority government, headed by a PM from Alberta, and the whining didn't actually stop them. It's embarrassing.
And weird
@albertabliss
The CPP has a 10-year return of about 9.3%, while AIMCO has a 7.3% rate of return over the same time period. I'd rather have the extra 27% return on a larger pot of money in the CPP, thanks
@alex__bowen
@michael_wiebe
Putting people in less space allows for more amenities in the spaces lawns and driveways would take up. And no, the goal isn't apartment-only housing. Plenty of other options in the middle
@Isuckatpicking
Dude rages on social media nonstop. Of course he's showing signs of stress.
I'm also assuming he declined the provincial paid EKG and found a private clinic so as not to be a socialist commie. Nothing is ever not a rage-farming opportunity
@DanWMcLean
They will not be paying for the full value of the event centre over the term of the deal. You might want to check your math. And why don't you share what your mixed feelings are?
@rebeccakschulz
This is actually a little embarrassing for
@CalgaryFoodBank
. It's sad that they allowed themselves to be used like this. I'll never not support the foodbank, but that was just sad. Their costs are far more affected by provincial policies
@friesen_f
@dubsndoo
Hold up, so this guy bought a vacation home, enjoyed it for 40 years, likely paid it off decades ago, and only gets to keep over a million dollars for doing nothing??
That poor, poor man
@SeenAndForeseen
@ABDanielleSmith
So soviet-era developments were duplexes and townhouses? People had the choice over what they built on their own property?
If you folks didn't have blatant fear-mongering and disinformation, you'd have nothing, eh?
@mynamesnotgordy
I'm just $249,822 away from hitting that $250K threshold! Gotta really watch my gains for the rest of the year so I don't slip into scary tax zone
@peteremcc
You know that Edmonton declared this 2 years ago, right? And that 516 other jurisdictions within Canada have done the same, right? And the Government of Canada did too? What rights have disappeared?
@TonyRanall54695
@tylermeredith
@elonmusk
The middle class isn't making $250,000 a year on capital gains. You don't have to be Elon Musk, but you do have to be in the top 0.13% of earners to be affected by this
@JLeahul
@_Norwegian_Blue
@mes200000
Because there's over 100 other Alberta producers doing the same, and they're not associating themselves with a party that's trying to rip our province apart
@timethief
@David_Moscrop
Thankfully it won't matter, but imagine if the vote failed by 1. They already know they don't have the votes, of course, so this political theatre is even more embarrassing
@hollyhoye
Hold up, this asshole acknowledged that he was aware that MLA Phillips was illegally stalked and harassed by the LPS, while he was Justice Minister, and still chose to do nothing? I wish I was surprised. Of course he equated the two
@TheBreakdownAB
We're supposed to feel bad for someone collecting cheques from 8 different organizations currently? How is that being prevented from working? Yet she goes and lists patronage appointments for other past premiers as justification
@jjvoit
@Nobby7694
@cityofcalgary
driving to the airport from Mahogany meant most of your trip was on Stoney or Deerfoot. Might want to check with the province on their roads
@DanWMcLean
I get Nelson not understanding the problem, but you had a NoM describing the issue right in front of you. To save money, council chose to reduce pavement quality under the previous term. See what happens with short-sighted budget cuts?
@Aaron_____Davis
@VoiceOfFranky
There's 18 months until the next election. At one point, both Scheer and O'toole led Trudeau in polling. How did that work out for them?
Conservatives in June: A person's gender is defined by their external anatomy!
Conservatives in August: A person's gender is defined by their... Ah, shit

That $400 came from removing services (hospitals being a good example), delaying infrastructure investment, privatizing government responsibilities and eating away at provincial savings. We're paying for that $400 now, multiple times over

Want a better comparison? Remove all smoking bylaws for the same reason. Just because I want to smoke at my desk, shouldn't affect you at the neighbouring desk. No more bans on smoking at entrances, on transit, in restaurants or anywhere. What I do doesn't impact you, right?
@DanWMcLean
Ultra progressive? What a joke of an article from a trash paper. You should be embarrassed to share that drivel. What if the province thought that racist videos and skipping council to golf were enough of a reason to punt a councillor?
@DanWMcLean
@JeromyYYC
Again, not being "paid for in full" by CSEC, as you erroneously stated. Everything else is projected, and the only guaranteed winner is the CSEC
🧵 Here's the problem with the way illusion of "choice" is delivered in Alberta education.
Choice, or the ability to choose between Public, Catholic, Charter or Private isn't equally or freely available to everyone.
Charters, Catholic & Private can pick & choose who they admit >
@ikwilson
@aaronhoyland
Axing the carbon tax would only eliminate the payments we receive. None of the corporations in the supply chain would lower prices in line with the tax they pay. Also, what's the plan for climate mitigation measures? Trading in a global economy requires some sort of plan
@kim_siever
I liked. Crazy how many Walmart apologists there are out there. Likely the same group that defend billionaires because capitalism is so good
@KirkLubimov
Not a chance. She got her votes against 27 other candidates. She's up against a yes/no decision now. She was given a 4-year term and has done nothing to lose that
@JasonOnTheDrums
@wyatt_claypool
So, Wyatt, candidates share their platform to getting elected, they get in, and now you cons want to tell people they got it all wrong. I don't feel tricked. I got who I wanted and they are true to their platform. But because I couldn't vote based on a blue sign, it's broken?

And the municipalities collect taxes on behalf of the province. The province has responsibilities that are provided through the city. You'd think you'd have learned some of this by now
@friesen_f
@TheBreakdownAB
Also, their utility and insurance costs, which have skyrocketed under the UCP, could have provided for them to buy bags if they weren't overpaying. A solution within reach for the UCP
