@laurieallee Davos was the litmus test. If the richest on the planet, thought leaders, didn’t need any precautions then this truly was behind us & not something to take so seriously. Cue the opposite. If all those precautions are necessary and good enough for them, they’re good enough for me.

Violet Affleck is Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s daughter. She continues to be even more impressive as a teenager. I can’t wait to see what she does as an adult.
Violet Affleck holding it down at the LA County Board of Supervisors demanding mask availability, mask mandates in hospitals, and clean air in all government buildings including jails and detention centers. Go Violet! 😷🍉

@alibrooke4ever Seriously. That producer should be ashamed of themselves. They knew exactly what they were doing. It’s maybe been a little over 6 months.

@LauraMiers Poor lady. But the way I would’ve run out of that classroom so fast and called animal control.

This is insane. Why are we doing this to ourselves? We don’t have to keep doing this! We could overhaul all these theaters for better air quality, implement respirators until then. Not only is he sick, but he potentially got the crew, plus audience members and cast sick.
Liev Schreiber leaves stage a few minutes into opening monologue of "Doubt" matinee. Was talking about despair being collective experience in 1964. And then sth like "Ladies and gentlemen, I need a few minutes." (I can't remember precisely b/c I thought it was part of the play.)

1 more for posterity for my fellow COVID and other infectious disease fighting peeps. Thank God for you @flo_mask, @SIPmask and @stoggles. Ditto @WestinghouseHQ for your super rad portable air purifier. I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this feeling safe w/o any of you.

@MeetJess Think about how much clean indoor air standards could’ve helped a situation like this keep from spinning out of control.

@makeupartist524 I’ve tried explaining the whole aerosol thing to my family multiple times at this point & they still don’t get it. I swear I think they think it’s fake or me just being hysterical. Apparently the scientists and field epidemiologists I listen to are nothing more than propagandists.

@makeupartist524 Great thread and good question. For what it’s worth, knowing what I know now about respiratory transmission, wearing a mask on public transit, especially planes, will always be part of my protocol. But prophylactics/clean air would make many other things a lot more accessible.

@bessbell He makes me SO happy. Good for him for keeping up what we should all be doing, especially because he has an autoimmune condition.

@JayElHarris I feel like it’s an older people thing. My mom does this and I absolutely have a fit if she does it in my presence. I have to remind her shared public spaces mean that not everyone wants to hear her random conversations w/people she knows but they don’t. So intrusive.

@baddestmamajama I’m so glad someone else feels this way. I thought it was just me who couldn’t reconcile their actual age with the one they feel stuck at in their head.

@makeupartist524 I relate to this SO much. Only I keep having this exact same fight w/my mom. I’m so sorry you have to go thru this w/your in-laws! That’s awful that they basically tried to ambush you over Zoom.

@jenjenjennnnn @MeetJess She’s been very good about masking, even wearing a KN95 to the White House Correspondents dinner with her mom. She seems sweet and smart, sets a great example in the face of peer pressure for someone so young.

@mysteriousrona I’m so jealous of that couple. Seriously. So jealous. Where are all the hot, emotionally intelligent men who still understand why masking up in public is a good idea right now?.

@makeupartist524 You did a great job of communicating & educating. You’re right, ventilation & testing beforehand are key as we go into year 4. Here’s hoping more people catch on & start doing the same & demand the same of public spaces too.

Take notes, @AerosolSociety @jacquirickard this is what it means to walk the talk.
Guess who’s back? Back again. Another round the Sober Edition crew. Same as last week. Proof of - test beforehand. Seated outdoors Masked up if not eating or drinking for our medically complex friends. A great time had by all. And THAT’s how you do it.

@nlj “We need to for our mental health.” “C19 causes cumulative brain damage over time, how do you think your mental health will be post infection?” To be clear, I miss eating in restaurants. I wish more could be like @ApricotTreeCaf1 & prioritize air quality. I’d eat out all the time.

@EvanHandler Thank you for consistently speaking up about this as a famous actor, Evan. We wouldn’t need to be so worried if we had adequate infrastructure changes by now that would ensure we had clean indoor air everywhere, significantly reducing risk and spread of all respiratory viruses.

@lisa_iannattone I just want to know the number of infections it’ll take to officially become immune. No one can ever answer that question.

@alibrooke4ever Speaking as a fellow sober person going on a little more than 10 years, this is a 100% accurate representation. Music and dancing are a millions times better sober because you can feel the vibe that much more deeply. It imprints in a way alcohol could never allow.

@RealGayArbys I wish people understood the way the 1918 pandemic set society up for 100 years of heart-related issues. This is does something similar but in multiple systems in the body & the only defense most have is b/c it’s not happening RIGHT NOW to them, it won’t ever or it’s no biggie.

@eofallthings Rocking full makeup and hair with volume thst could be seen and that didn’t get smudged or mussed by wearing a respirator. Meeting friends for coffee/tea/dinner whenever. Zero risk assessment for eating in flight or traveling anywhere. Taking fun workshops or classes in person.

@RogueVictorian @kim_crawley This is why we need indoor air quality infrastructure upgrades. The same way we reduced cholera transmission in our water, we need to do the same for our air.

@TheAngryEpi @Annatated @CDCgov Glad to see she’s finally admitting they need to come back but when the HELL is anyone going to bring up cleaning the indoor air w/HEPA filters & far UVC lights? The research is there, so is the tech we just have to use it.

@drseanmullen Thank you. The whole thing makes me nervous. I have an opportunity right now to push for clean air, but I need people to join me in creating demand otherwise it’s just me. The tricky part is the whole respirators-off thing. People are hardcore about it. But our jobs require it.

@makeupartist524 This whole thing is dumb. People insisting on purity at all costs can fuck right off. We didn’t all grow up w/masks sealed to our faces. This isn’t how it’s supposed to go. In a better timeline, we’d have durable nasal vaxxes & clean indoor air everywhere. My block button’s busy.

@cross97se I work in an Aura, which doesn’t really rest too much on my face. The seal may get a little damp around the edges, but it dries quickly. Lindsay Marr talked about this in her 60 Minutes segment and she said it doesn’t have too much of an effect once it dries.

@PeoplesOracle I’m not at all surprised she’s sick. I’m shocked she lasted this long. Her concerts looked insane. Pre-pandemic I’d have thought they looked great. Now…? We need better ventilation and air quality.

@mercurial_moons I get so pissed when people try to pull the “you’re anxious” crap w/me. I’m not anxious. I’m angry. I know what to do. I’ve been doing it nearly 4 years. I’m sick of doing it. I do this bc I want to not bc I have to. Give us a damn next gen durable inhaled vaxx & clean air!.

Holy crap, I joined in on the #yallmasking photo trend and my TL is lit up back to back with so many of us masking, all over the world! I love it. Turns out there are more people out there who get what wastewater levels mean than I thought & act accordingly, a very good thing.

@RealityByAshley @evanrosskatz Chloe is a well respected actress with knowledge of her field, as evidenced by the fact that she named a broad list of actresses from classic and iconic films that influenced her—not celebrities, which is what K*m is and it’s a totally different thing.

@laurieallee 100%. Also, proof that we needn’t only be reliant on 😷/💉 alone. They proved that large scale air purification/optimization was possible, that it could prevent outbreaks. There is NO reason for us not to do the same everywhere. It would help us w/so much, not just covid.

@julia_doubleday The look on her face is insufferable. Like, oh this shit again. We get it, you’re over it. But guess what? It’s not over us! So handle it! Govern! Protect your citizens and your precious economy. They’re giving new life to kicking the can down the road.

@ChrisAlvino As an actress who misses theater & other in person stuff in the worst way, this is what upsets me too. My field let me have some very cool experiences. I wanted more. I won’t even get on the subway because no one is masking & the trains aren’t ventilated. I want HEPAs everywhere.

@PeoplesOracle I hate that it might even have to get this far on the one hand, but on the other—for the love of God, it has to be something to force real, meaningful change around infection control. People really don’t seem to understand that living late 1800s style is BAD.

@offbeatorbit You don’t have to justify yourself to this person. I’m sorry. I do volunteer work around C19 and I’m embarassed at the way people who claim to be C19 aware act out from anxiety. It’s a conversation that needs to be had. For some in the community, nothing’s good enough.

@RealGayArbys Of course it’d be too much to ask if we COULD have nice looking, sleek N95s and others to wear in a variety of colors and patterns. Then people might wear them more often.

@Stephania_1772 @lisa_iannattone Keep masking, wipe down everything, wash hand thoroughly, avoid crowds. Lather, rinse, repeat. We can do this.

@MeetJess I admit I nearly started crying the closer I got to the end of this article. I want this SO badly. I want it work really well. But I don’t want to wait 2-3 years for this. I can’t do it. I can’t be sidelined or be performing risk assessments for another year. 2024 has to be IT.

@VirginiaGewin @matthewfederman Direct quote from dinner tonight w/parents: The bank said no more sanitized pens or masks anymore. Such a good sign!.Me: Uh, not really. If 86.1 million infections and climbing of a new disease sounds like a good sign… .The attitude is still, “So?”.

SAG is still striking, so let’s continue to show up for actors the way they showed up for writers.
As someone who’s not yet in the union, can I just say how happy and proud I am of everyone who stood up to the Powers That Be, regardless of how scary or hard it was going to be? Congratulations to everyone. The next generation thanks you.

@RealGayArbys I actually DMed her to thank her for speaking about her experience, but I also asked about transparency when it came to the events she attended where no one could be visibly seen in a respirator. I wanted to know if they had any clean air tech in place or testing requirements.
