I am going to post how this virus has destroyed me as a HCW. I have a Dr. in pharm, with a specialty in infectious disease. I worked on the critical weird cases. I have practiced for 18 years. I knew about #covid on 12/29/19. This was me the week before I knew is was airborne šŸ§µ

@HeadphoneYogi @LosAngeles_Scan 5) the only way to treat these fires? Massive remediation of the outlying vegetation. PREVENTION. Removal of highly flammable invasive species. Palm trees are a huge culprit their fronds are coated in flammable wax & they ā€œsailā€ alight & rapidly spread

@HeadphoneYogi @LosAngeles_Scan 4) Trying to pick up water from the ocean is not advisable. The waves, if they crash into the bucket, can cause them to crash. Itā€™s also very bad for their equipment. Added bonus? It will kill native vegetation- leaving barren eroding ground, causing landslides & more fires

@HeadphoneYogi @LosAngeles_Scan 3) It is DANGEROUS. Fire creates its own weather, the drafts are deadly. Medivac rescue & fire fighting pilots have the highest risk of death of any pilot. Same with Hotshot ground crews, they shouldnā€™t be near this, I couldnā€™t stand another Granite Mt šŸ§µ

@HeadphoneYogi @LosAngeles_Scan 2) The effectiveness is questionable. For example dumping water on fire can spread it. This is a whole study on the subject done by the Interior Department. Each gallon of water dropped is roughly $6 in the west. Thatā€™s just water! Retardant is much more

@LosAngeles_Scan I am šŸ’”. The fires, the poor evacuation planning, people being greedy & trying to leave with 3 cars & their RV. Like no. Some people canā€™t get out due to this. My friend lives in Topenga Canyon and her videos are stark. I have been in these situations & it is terrifying

@_beccaharrison @the_tattooedjew @StephTaitWrites It isnā€™t a false sense of safety. N95s effectively decrease the amount of VOCs absorbed, due to their action at blocking fine glass like particles from the smoke- which causes the lung lining to be more ā€œporousā€ as the irritation loosens the tight junctions between cells

@_beccaharrison @the_tattooedjew @StephTaitWrites I recommended N95s: the public can do that. Itā€™s risk reduction. Blocking the fine particulates, which irritate the lung lining, decreases VOCs absorption. So it helps. Itā€™s not a panacea. I recommend goggles & a P100 respirator to anyone who has to be outside.

@jeremotographs @StephTaitWrites I moved from southern Oregon because of this. Water will be in short(er) supply for the entire west. I chose where I moved to based on climate predictions. No historical natural disasters

@fitterhappierAJ I posted N95 ā€œplease buy ASAPā€ to my HCW, tries to get PPE ordered. I had an ID doc I worked with, mock me. It was Feb 2020ā€¦ I predicted an Ro that was spot on. While the @WHO and @CDCgov gave the absolute worst advice or just nothing. How? I saw it, you saw it, many others too.

@MikeDizzll @edgarrmcgregor The gusts are 100mph the risk of death by flashover in these area is extreme. There are different types of firefighters, Hot Shot wildfire specialists arenā€™t touching this. These are steep densely populated areas. They are using bulldozers to remove cars so others can evacuate.

@oldfshndanne @AmandaBalleng99 Unfortunately prion disease in various deer populations has been exploding, and unfortunately during ā€œthe Covid yearsā€ funding and widespread testing decreased. I have never subscribed to the idea that this wouldnā€™t jump species from deer to human. It did from cows to humans.

@mikegalsworthy @archer_rs I am American, Brexit blew my mind. Everything I was afraid of has happened. People voted with emotionally myopathic views, without actually listening to those warning them of the consequences. Now the UK has secured itself in the annals of oblivion their power was in the EU

I took my friend to the hospital yesterday. There were 2 incoming stories. I spoke to the nurse, she told me that it has been insane. The average age for thrombotic (clots) strokes was so young now after #COVID19. It causes inflammation of small blood vessels resulting in this

@BooReals It just compounds existing injury. When the world tries to discount what you saw & proclaim this ā€œoverā€, itā€™s demoralizing & insulting

@nerodenc I greatly appreciate that. This whole situation has really shown me what many humans seems to value. It is often themselves. I am hoping to start teaching again remotely but we shall see. šŸ˜Š
