Whether one agrees with Uganda’s anti-gay law (I am personally against it), the fact that American evangelicals advised on the creation of the law and have donated upwards of $54 million to implement for nearly a decade and a half to lobby in favor of it cannot be ignored.

The Chinese government's insistence on total control over all data in China mean that companies can operate there only by accepting that they have no capacity whatsoever to protect the privacy of their users or to prevent official retaliation against them.

I don’t see how peace talks will actually yield results if the EU/US pile-in isn’t on the table. If the West will keep up with punitive measures regardless, or a neutral Ukraine is off the table, then I just don’t see it resolving — and it can only get worse.

@AndyBxxx I have seen thousands of Chinese tourists in my days in Europe and, yes, they do not face anywhere near the same hurdles. No nationality-based lockouts of accommodation, no nationality-based lockouts of tourist attractions, ability to buy tickets online.

I’m 27 currently. My language goals before I turn 30 is to pass my level 2 Russian exam. After that, I wanna get my C1 Spanish cert. Then I’d like to go back to French for a year. I think I could get to at least B2 in that time. Then post-30, I’m going for Mandarin.

One thing people don’t realize is that the Americans only fear the China-Russia relationship insofar as Russia maintains influence in Europe. Without that, their strategists believe Russia and China are destined for competition if Russia turns East, as Moscow experts now discuss.
