I think the biggest thing is that babygirl is probably asking to go in the store because that’s when she gets the most attention from mom. Kids make associations with their desired outcome so the connections she is expressing are coming from that. Sucks to see it misunderstood :/

I think that’s what they’re supposed to do... I mean if you can do it yourself that’s great but the parent is supposed to take care of the child and set them up for success... ideally. That doesn’t mean you’re set back in adulthood, if anything that puts you ahead.

Personally I think you’d be fine asking for help. Just as soon as they come to you and you are “alone” try to explain your intent, it should put them at ease. If they reject knowing you it’s probably them being cautious or confused, I just wouldn’t take it personal.
