White supremacy is not that. It can cause that to happen, but fundamentally, white supremacy is still about white people keeping global power through war and subjugation (or imperialism, colonialism, slavery and genocide, to be more precise) over everyone else.

Do not expect that you'll be able to get on disability if you catch long covid. It was already nearly impossible for most people and it's about to get even worse cause they're not about to let as many people who will be disabled after covid get on that system.

Some men can give birth. Some women cannot. Reproductive rights aren't about gender.

The job of a therapist is to treat what white colonial society identifies as pathologies enough to let you function under capitalism, which is what some people need to survive in this society, but a lot of rhetoric I see isn't honest about that purpose.

I really wish people understood how much power there is in claiming the word "disabled" and letting go of the shame we're taught to have about our bodies and brains. Disabled isn't a negative word. It connects us to a community, culture & identity that is powerful.

Folks aren't gonna want to hear this, but people who can't read are oppressed people.

Ok so just a note: when I say I lack energy, that's not the same thing as lacking motivation. I have a chronic illness that severely limits my energy. Physical energy. It's not like my depression when I find it hard to work up the mental/emotional energy to do something.

After reintroducing polio in Gaza after it had been eradicated, the Israeli military is now rolling out a polio vaccine booster programme. But not for Gazans. For the soldiers killing Gazans. This is exactly what colonial extermination looks like

Idk if people have realized, but most abusers and assholes in general still have community and most people who don't are just oppressed. So there's no reason to use lack of community as a blanket red flag except to strengthen systems of abuse and oppression.

So much of what people consider to make someone "a real adult" excludes disabled people. No wonder we're infantilized.

Remember, even if you can't fully participate in the strike tomorrow, that doesn't mean you have to give up on it. I do think it's right to take on some risk and difficulty, but if it's totally impossible, I think we can all at least refrain from buying anything but absolute...

The thing people who are legitimately worried about self-diagnosis don't often realize is that my doctors not only don't diagnose me with what I have. I've probably experienced much more misdiagnosis from them than accurate diagnoses.

You're not a bad person if your disability holds you back. You can have limitations. You're not doing anything wrong if you're listening to your body. ❤

Ok, this is something I need to spell out because it happens too much. When I post something complaining about something white people do, if you're white, you do not need to come and tell me how you never do the thing. You don't need to tell me what a good white you are.

I was today years old when I figured out that your hormone levels can change ADHD symptoms and even the effectiveness of ADHD medication. Misogyny in medicine strikes again 🙃.

The idea that you need a "valid medical reason" to wear a mask is gonna bring out the disability police in droves. And fakeclaiming has already been getting far worse in response to this pandemic. Get ready for drs to start pushing this even more than usual too.

Something that really clarified for me in tonight's book club: all oppression is rooted in ableism. It's not that ableism is worse somehow. It's that oppression is rooted in the idea of an inferior body and especially brain, a construct that was shaped by white supremacy.

It's really telling if you see lgbtq+ issues and disability issues as wholly separate from Black issues.
