I went to your Roehampton store today. I have a question, what are your rules on who is allowed to push trolleys? You see, I saw children pushing them in very haphazard ways and yet I, as an adult, was told I cannot use a trolley as I only have one hand to push it with!!

I was lucky I had someone with me who found an off duty guard to help after around 10+ minutes. (Thanks James). I pressed emergency button and no staff available to help. Was pretty frightening that this happens.

This is why, as a powerchair user, Iโve specifically been advised to never fly with my wheelchair but hire one at my destination! Itโs disgusting this is allowed to happen, and on such a regular basis!! I hope someone can help with a workable solution x

is that I use a scooter (itโs a powerchair) which is very fast (limited to 3.9mph) and that they didnโt think I could control it. Store manager says they would also say I canโt use a small trolley, as they donโt believe a wheelchair user can operate it.

This tweet is Everything thatโs wrong and demonstrates the ableism from cyclists quite perfectly. No there isnโt an adaptive bike for everyone and cost means most disabled people canโt afford them anyway! Or does it come with all the other free stuff ppl think we get but donโt!

Love this. Iโve had a physio tell me I should concentrate on walking more as the world would be more accessible than using my wheelchair! I mean really?? I can walk about 10-15 metres before I run out of energy or body collapses. Not sure access would matter as Iโd be housebound!

I am now home. But was put on a train with a plan to get me off at a different station without my consent or knowledge when I boarded!! I was rescued by an OFF DUTY guard.

It is still DOUBLE what we as an average home weโre paying 12 months ago. My wages havenโt gone up anywhere near ยฃ1000 in a year, so where are โaverageโ households meant to get this money. As a disabled person I canโt stop charging my wheelchair or get too cold!!

this branch of yours have an automatic door which they refuse to keep in use for disabled customers. They prop one door open instead or block it completely. This has been going on for years. Please keep access available at your stores and take this as complaint.

Denied access to Surbiton Station as they arenโt allowing BB holders to park and been denied step free access to opposite side of the station. I was told I had to use steps! So after setting off early, Iโm now late as had to drive to alternate

So depressing to see โdisabled influencersโ using their platform to promote โcripping upโ. The practice of trialling disability like using a wheelchair or being blindfolded has been shown to increase pity, decrease empathy and provide zero change. /1

Given that turn around is sometimes less than 10 minutes, I could have been sent off on a train somewhere else against my will. Waterloo. This isnโt good enough. Trains need to be checked by staff that there are no wheelchair users left on them.

news, I was crossing a zebra crossing in my powerchair, already on the crossing, and cyclist refused to stop and nearly ploughed into me. Thankfully I stopped b4 I was hit. Cyclists must follow Highway Code. Their ableism is showing.

This is awful. Youโve picked a venue that is inaccessible to so many people. Additionally youโre only allowing female wheelchair users who are below a size 16. Fatphobic and ableist are not words I had previously associated with this show. Which Iโve seen multiple times.

Response from Asda is that I use a scooter (itโs a powerchair) which is very fast (limited to 3.9mph) and that they didnโt think I could control it. Store manager says they would also say I canโt use a small trolley, as they donโt believe a wheelchair user can operate it.

Keep getting texts from my GP to send in my height and weight, because they donโt have

scales. Well I donโt either, so here we are in a loop!! How can the NHS be so blind to access for disabled people? The NHS fails wheelchair users more often than anyone else!

Also, the cost of learning to drive etc can be prohibitive to many, alongside the fact many disabled people canโt get a license or have to have medically renewed licenses.

Iโm away with my wife. Weโve now contacted two female queer venues (Liverpool and Manchester). Neither are fully accessible to me as a wheelchair user. They either have no access at all or no loo. WHEN WILL THE LGBTQ+ COMMUNITY BECOME INCLUSIVE TO DISABLED QUEERS?

๐งต So I tweet a lot about inaccessibility in society. Itโs very frustrating being consistently excluded from the built environment. The equality act has no enforcement agency and relies on โreasonableโ as everyoneโs get out clause, often that itโs too expensive. /1

Wheelchair users have to enter through a narrow door/corridor with obstacles like weights which not all wheelchairs will get through. Then a third of the ramp is blocked off at the bottom by a lamp, meaning itโs dangerous for wheelchair users coming down.

My employer did a โstaff benefitโ that took up two disabled parking bays for over a month AND WAS NOT ACCESSIBLE TO DISABLED STAFF.

So Iโve just checked. The UK government think itโs ok to ask people if they would have sex/relationships with disabled people. The ableism is strong in this survey for the National Strategy for disabled people.

I canโt physically get into many LGBTQ+ venues as Iโm a wheelchair user and need accessible facilities. On the rare occasions I can and thereโs an accessible loo, I canโt get in as itโs clearly used as an alternative to a hotel room! Itโs really hard to be disabled & queer!

100% this. I no longer trust any non disabled person to say if something is accessible. Too many times Iโve arrived and canโt get in or thereโs other serious issues around access.
The shit that will always kill me is that 9/10 times when a Nondisabled person says something is accessible, itโs not, but weโre โirritatingโ when we ask for specifics.

I hear you. I said exactly the same at a recent womenโs safety event (that erased disabled people through various means). I feel far more unsafe now Iโm disabled than when I was a gay able woman.

Iโm not vulnerable because Iโm a disabled woman, Iโm made vulnerable by a society that sees accessibility as special treatment. A society that puts profit before people. A society that would make decisions about what disabled people need without including us.

Might not equate to a โmassiveโ pay rise but when professionals cannot afford to live due to huge price hikes everywhere, and are worried about finance/making ends meet/prioritising food or heating etc, that needs to be addressed in order for staff to be able to be happy at work

So, I canโt physically use the machine in many car parks. So Iโm charged extra(usually up to ยฃ1 more) to park because of my disability. If app is the alternative to pay, it also shouldnโt cost more.

Sorry, parents with buggies are that, not wheelers.
When parents go out on the streets and fight for their rights to travel, they will then have their own protections. Until then itโs a wheelchair space. Priority for wheelchair users.

Appalling. There should be more space for wheelers on these new buses. Designers didnโt recognise that modern buggies are not readily foldable.

I am done. An organisation who โvalues equalityโ specifically booked a hotel without full wheelchair access for a weekend conference. The whole experience was degrading and humiliating, which included the venue locking access to the only wheelchair accessible loo /1
