@KSadtler I think immunology is Taoist. Expecting it to make sense or enable intuition just makes working with it harder and more brittle. It contains mystery, it contradicts itself often, and it isn't the same once shaped by human intent. Immunology in situ is uncut wood.

@oitixion @autumnpard people used to say the same thing about acting like a belligerent ass or abject moron in public and yet here you are

@autumnpard @tomieinlove what's the hobby? aging biology or knowing which awful husbands are in politics?

@arubikscube @schwarzposter_ @eryney_ok I think you're right about not being able to one-shot a completely-specified biological system that works exactly as prompted BUT I don't think you need that level of perfection to create pathogenic prions or viruses that are complete enough to do damage or recombine

@CJHandmer we can and should expect some proof, tho, at a higher standard than "bc I said so" or "bc it feels true"

@eryney_ok for (2) you're presuming rationality if making lots of potentially pathogenic viruses is easy and fast, then why does a psycho need to do any validation? they can just spray them out and maybe something sticks think the "decades" timeline for tool use is also way off here

@norvid_studies this is yet another reason why I'm still mad that we collectively shrugged and rolled over on souping up biosurveillance and indoor air quality

@zeta_globin sure but you also talk about your weird rare genes all the time so we're going to draw different conclusions here: you are a specimen from which no generalizations about anything may be drawn

@autumnpard ig I'm less worried about updated theories at this point than I am about actual good data @SnyderShot has been working on profiling different "ageotypes" which can at least distinguish drivers but overall I suspect actually treating aging will mean programmed 2nd, 3rd puberties

@zanehengsperger Michigan I've already lived there for a while and, while it's head and shoulders above many other places in the Midwest, prefer the West Coast

@lukegroce @PatrickHeizer time to get your gut checked then sure there's waste but the people claiming to uncover & deal with it aren't exactly setting an example anyone should aspire to in showing that what's being cut is actually wasteful we can and should expect better

@lukegroce @PatrickHeizer try that again making fewer assumptions about what I do or don't like, bud
