@mechanical_monk Making a fake contractor badge and wasting hot Chinese spies’ time seems like the most patriotic thing a person could do.

@LeaMaric But it's important not to forget that liberal white men will gleefully agree with those women because they have no other possible recourse to outcompete these men.

@Duderichy After seeing the “McDonalds fry cooks in Oklahoma make more than nuclear engineers in the UK” discourse, I think it’ll be at the point of crisis by the mid 2030s.

@theramblingfool It's not the cost. It's the shame of knowing. You'll live with that the rest of your life.

@JacobAShell I think you’re off target on McNulty though. They even addressed it in an episode where he slept with the political strategist and told her he didn’t really want to vote for Bush, but couldn’t bring himself to vote for a Dem.

@HoneyBadgerBite My wife was insistent on pursuing a career, which is fine with me, but I explained this to her, explicitly and frequently. Now that she’s into her career she thanks me for preparing for the reality. We bond by venting to each other regularly.

@north0fnorth It’s also because asphalt is engineered to be soft. Longevity is a lower tier priority to its ability to interact effectively with rubber tires in various weather conditions.

@SizeMichael @Noahpinion @eean The data is at best inconclusive on this. It’s leaning toward actual side effects. Which makes intuitive sense, frankly. Bodies are integrated systems, not compartmentalized processes.

@Austen Why would they even want to nationalize it? They already have a national space dept. Just have NASA do what SpaceX is doing and put SpaceX out of business.

@ArtemisConsort I read the order. My notes:. 1. It doesn't define "fair market value" aside from leaving it up to the department of real estate to adjudicate. 2. The punishment is a max $1,000 fine, which seems like a no-brainer of a risk to take. So, yeah, I don't know who it helps.

@BDSixsmith Man, this is so cyclical. I’m old enough to remember when DEI was just a silly idea of some blue haired college kids. I don’t really know what the answer is beyond I guess that I’m a fascist for finding unpleasant body odor unpleasant.

@wanyeburkett The contractor is a great example of an underdiscussed problem. He mentioned it 7 times b/c he's not W2 and just collecting a paycheck with a raise built in. He's having to constantly sell a 25% higher rate to customers who are overwhelmed by higher prices everywhere.

@aelita1917 lol. Millions of acres of that is forest. You could be more honest and say the government has a self-interested reason for keeping it from private hands, but "they couldn't give it away" is a really stupid thing to say to anyone who has actually been to these areas.

@DonpaulStephens @drizie3080 @anothercohen This thread was an emotional rollercoaster for me. “4th amendment makes sense!”. “4th amendment only applies to government seizures!”. “Squatters rights are enforced by the government!”. I’ve landed on thinking you’re right.
