As someone who used to work on the Stan Bayesian inference language this misuse annoys me to no end
thinking again about how an entire microculture sprang up in the last few years which uses "bayesian inference" to mean "my best guess" and regards itself as uniquely empowered thereby to pilot human history

non-ironically this realness is what I loved about working in finance. yeah dude we have jobs bc we need money to exchange for goods and services. turns out more is just better sometimes
