Some of the most appalling comments made to surgical trainees
#Roux2021
that are difficult to even comprehend yet sadly all true. Unacceptable does not begin to cover it, we need to change the narrative
#callitout
These comment are unacceptable in any circumstance against anyone irrespective of gender, religion, ethnicity, sexuality or any other personal demographic. Discrimination against one harms us all. Together we will stamp it out

Far be it from us as a surgical trainee group to pass comments on other specialties, but only 24 hrs since we posted these comments, we have had messages from trainees in medicine, Emergency Medicine, anaesthetics, radiology reporting the same. The problem is bigger than surgery
A huge congratulations to all our recently elected regional reps! Great to have you part of the team. The competition was tough and we hope those who weren’t successful this time will continue to engage with us in future

A brilliant (and horrifying) thread
@DrThawaba
, full of great advice. Surgery is ‘not a game’, anything can go wrong at any time, the stress and the consequences are very real. A sobering, honest and humbling account that we can all learn from

Absolutely delighted to say I’ve passed my FRCS. What a feeling. Started out in 2000 doing Physiology at Uni knowing I wanted to be a Surgeon. 21 years and a PhD later I’ve passed my Fellowship exam. Pretty emotional thinking about it.
It’s paramount that
#UpperGI
surgeons should be able to scope their own patients. Absolute must for preop planning, on-table scoping in theatre, dealing w postop complications & advanced therapeutic procedures (ERCP, stenting, dilatation). 1/2
FRCS/MRCS focussed EGS & Trauma Symposium is just round the corner. Don’t forget to register for 2 days of FRCS/MRCS exam revision and then 6 months of access to view and review again, just for £50.
