Aw this is so beautiful ❤️❤️ Many black Americans have fascinating takes on what constitutes “good hair”. That expression, in and of itself, is a problem. Many of these views can be largely attributed to “brainwashing” during the slavery and colonial eras and need to be unlearnt.

We didn’t. People were described in reference to their familial relationships (e.g. child of X, husband of Y) or compounds/residence. You were just called your name. No “aunty”, “broda”, etc. At least in Yoruba tradition but I suspect this wasn’t uncommon across the ethnicities.
