Ok so it’s not remotely my best piece of work but it represents not giving up. It’s the first sketch in the past 5 weeks I have not torn up. Finished just half an hour ago - it’s late, I am tired, the noise is still there in my head, but I am still here; I am not giving up.
So Car Twitter it’s not a Porsche 911 or hypercar, or latest hot hatch or the ‘car to be seen in’ at the latest car venue, it’s not a magazine front cover star or top gear hero. No it’s a 2.2 Diesel Estate - and it positively ‘breathes’ down a B road and I love owning it.
The thing I struggle with in Depression is how it robs you of the joy of things - this sketch I finished tonight and I already want to tear it up. But I have promised Mrs Revs I am not going to and I am also saying here publicly that I won’t do it. Just putting that out there.
After nearly two weeks of ownership - I must say I really really like it, even though I never thought I would ever be in a position to own a car like it.

Sad to hear of the death of Marchello Gandini - designer of the Miura, Countach, Citroen BX, not to mention Lancia Stratos and numerous concept cars, the list is long. You could say he was father of supercar design.
So yesterday was my final day as Artist in Residence for
@astonmartin
@AstonMartinWork
@AndyatAston
can’t believe it’s been a year already: more than anything for me it’s been about people - they are what I will miss the most - people who are passionate, dedicated, hard working.
So excited to have the Rover CCV on the REVS stand at
@BicesterH
Scramble thanks to
@BMMuseum
- it was the cover star of one of the first issues of
@CARmagazine
I ever bought. Cars like this got me into car design.
So this was an experiment - marrying my use of pastels with more ‘finished’ coloured pencil. It felt huge to try, especially with me feeling fragile at the moment, the jury is still out, but I have not torn it up - it’s tucked away in a drawer.

I am thinking of writing an article on the mental health benefits of driving. For those who love their cars/bikes - have you had any experience of drives/cars that have contributed positively to your mental health. Can such things really be beneficial? Let me know.
For what its worth (and its not much I will admit) I think the Range Rover design highlight (apart from the original early ones) is still the early, fuss and frilly-free L322. But what do I know?
Hi All, Mrs Revs here . Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone for their love and support this past week while the Rev has not been well. We’ve had so many messages of support and we’re all very grateful .
Thank you to the wonderfully gifted people at
@AstonMartinWork
for allowing me to go and scribble in a corner there today. Amazing to see craftsmanship at work - lovely to see apprentices there learning and working. I love the cars - but it’s the people that make
@astonmartin
In line with my previous tweet about my mental health update and my wife stating I am starting to look like a deep sea Trawler Captain - she has now provided photographic evidence.......
From tomorrow my Doodle a day sketches will be black and white so if you have kids or are sat at home bored - you can print them off and colour them in - then share them with the hashtag
#doodlegaragegallery
There are few cars which could carry off yellow wheels - but this is one that does (shame I have overworked them on the sketch then)

Sad news indeed - prayers for the family, and I should imagine many friends, of Sabine. The track will always echo with your speed, skill, passion and the sound of you willing that Transit van to go faster.
Still the definitive super car, still a yardstick by which others are judged. The designer Peter Stevens a dear dear friend, and my former boss at MG Rover. Sketch is a recent one, unfinished and awaiting a little colour

I just don't see Aston Martin as a Ferrari competitor - so don't see why they should try to emulate them - Aston's cars have always been better when they have done things differently, when they have been Astons and not something else.
A message from the Rev
Please excuse this way of presenting what is a honest post about where I currently find myself. Hope it makes some sense.
thanks

It’s New Year, it’s Mrs Rev’s 50th, it’s an Alfa, and I have a packet of drumstick squashies still left from Christmas. Solid start. God is good.

DB4 GT Zagato in build - an amazing day last year
@astonmartinworks
sitting in the corner and sketching - what a privilege. Incredible skills on display as the cars were slowly taking shape in build. Passion, enthusiasm, craftsmanship all very evident.
Done quite a bit of sketching since my mum passed away - it has been really helpful just to hide away in my study - not least enabled by an incredibly understanding wife. People handle grief in different ways of course -
Doodle of the day: lovely line sketches by
@henryhopefrost
- grief and shock felt by so many today - especially his family. There are no trite answers, no easy words. One tweet today simply said ‘fuck!’. Agree with sentiment - Shock, loss, anger. Prayers for those grieving today.
Final sketch post of this year - early sketch in photoshop from 6 years - I am starting to think of needing to increase skill and reach with more ‘painted’ works. Maybe current stuff too sketchy? This is something to explore in 2022? Will keep you posted and will keep posting.
She is the queen, and she is also a Mother, a Grandmother, and a Great Grandmother and so prayers for all her family travelling to be with her at this time. May peace be over them all at this time.
Rest now Sir. The race is over, the flag has been waved. The track has fallen silent.
Time to rest, and rest well. Thoughts and prayers for all who have loved you and all who will miss you, especially for those dearest to you.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them
And…….she is home. So proud of her taking this step forward in being an independent young woman, meeting challenges head on and with a beaming smile as she got back. Proud Dad

Doodle of the day; the original DBS from
@astonmartin
sketched this past weekend
@fosgoodwood
at 6:30am whilst the site was still closed to the public. It was quiet, sunny, I felt at peace, on my own in front of this wonderful car.
Doodle of the day: D-Type - playing with photoshop - which I’ve never been truly comfortable with - it’s a great programme but I always struggle with where to start and I get impatient. It does not always do what I want it to, (or rather I can not get it to do what I want it to).
Doodle of the day: Spitfire sketch - the legendary plane designed by R J Mitchell. What a legacy. His creation often called the most beautiful fighter plane, if not most beautiful aeroplane of all time.
A ‘A ‘future Jaguar concept’ sketch done this evening - 20 years or so ago I was training at university and the Jaguar design team set is a project - ‘a new kind of Jaguar’ - what a great way to learn, what a great opportunity.
Oh yes she is cute - but she has consumed so much fluff from her mattress over the past couple of months that when it all comes out it will be like having our own ‘Build a Bear Workshop’ machine.
A little sketch to end the day with - it’s been a good day but a long one too. Prayers of rest for you as you sleep this evening. Have a good night.

DC3 ‘Dakota’ - 2015 sketch done recovering from my last really serious bout of mental ill health. A lot has changed - hugely grateful to people who walked with me through it - not least 2 amazing children and an incredible wife.

Looking back at some commissions - a classic -
@LandRover_UK

Dear Instagram follower - whilst I am glad you like my sketches - I do not email them out on request so you may print them out. They are actually something that helps put dinner on the table - yes I do have to charge for them. Thanks anyway - blessings
So, erm, this has just happened. Massive thanks to everyone at the

This award is for every person who has been part of the REVS Limiter community.
Here is something really lovely that is not subject to an embargo or the subject of ‘leaked images’ - An Alfa Romeo RL TF I got to photo and draw

last weekend - a thing of beauty
Today I am 47! How did that happen? I don’t feel 47! I feel like a big kid, think like a big kid, have the maturity of a big kid.
As an advert for 47 year old wisdom - I am rubbish..
If you want me, I am at bar drinking my milkshake and eating my drumstick squashes.
DB4GT Zagato sketchbook - never got bored of finding new things to enjoy about it - it’s shape, it’s stance, the sounds; it really cemented itself as one of my all time favourite Aston’s. Amazing craftsmen
@astonmartinworks

Hugely grateful and humbled to have been awarded the

It might have my name on it - but there are so many people that have made this even a possibility. So many people who made REVS happen.
