Pleased to share that the optogenetic microtubule severing tool #Optokatanin✂️ is now out in @CurrentBiology !!! Movie shows opto-katanin being used to locally sever microtubules in two locations (marked by blue boxes) inside a neuron.

When the blue dot is shown, blue light pulses are being locally applied inside the yellow circle, which induces the recruitment of the microtubule severase katanin p60 to microtubules. Upon p60 recruitment microtubules are locally disassembled and the ER network simplifies.

A very elegant study by some of my colleagues on decrypting lysosomal protein trafficking! They combine synchronised transport (using the RUSH system) with APEX proximity labelling to map out the lysosomal protein trafficking pathway in neurons. 👏🏼 #POTATOMap 🥔🗺️

It's out!😭🕺First preprint as a PhD at the Farias Lab @ginny_farias where we investigated biosynthetic lysosomal membrane protein trafficking, delivery and interactome with Protein Origin, Trafficking And Targeting to Organelle Mapping (POTATOMap)🥔

💫NEW: Rai et al. report that CAMSAPs can bind to minus ends of #microtubules attached to #γtubulin ring complex (γ-TuRC) and drive microtubule release. They show that CDK5RAP2, but not CLASP2, inhibits CAMSAP-mediated microtubule release from γ-TuRC.

@christlet @SamStehbens Actually the image shows a thermo Alexa fluor highly cross preadsorbed goat anti mouse secondary, we've been seeing a lot of variability in cross reactivity between antibody batches unfortunately. 😔
