Controversial opinion: while itβs popular to say we donβt need the glam journals, scientists aspire for recognition, like an actor aspires for an Oscar and a musician aspires for a Grammy. If Nature/Science/Cell is taken away, we would need some other way to recognise good work.

Picking one of 11000 species of #bird for the cover was a daunting challenge. In the end we went for a no-excuses showy bird, .the Roseate Spponbill (Platalea ajaja), a wading bird of South and Central America and a Florida favorite.
