Bartholomew is not the ‘Orthodox Pope’. He’s a Patriarch; and not mine at that. And if certain Orthodox folks join with the Pope, it won’t mean that Orthodoxy has bent the knee. It’ll mean that some people left the true Church. Meanwhile, Orthodoxy will remain unbroken.

I get you left Catholicism because Jay Dyer convinced you, but cherry picking events out of context isn’t a good look. Eastern Orthodox leaders do the same thing as well, because that mosque holds the head of John the Baptist, are they now apostate Christians?

Pray tell, what is the limiting principle of the ‘development of doctrine?’ Because if there isn’t one, then the Tradition is *only* submission to the Pope and his infallibility. Every doctrine is then subject to revision, change, or abandonment.
If you take the approach of wanting to maintain doctrine as the supreme law, you naturally are hostile or suspicious at development of doctrine, for fear of being heretical.
But this approach has its priorities backwards and ultimately evinces a lack of faith in the Holy Spirit

I'm willing to bet that this man is a convert. Cradle EO, especially from the old countries, don't talk like this. They acknowledge differences but don't talk about "two completely different religions".

The problem with this is that the Ancient Church does not agree with the medieval Catholic church does not agree with the Novus Ordo church. Good luck reconciling those. It cannot be done.

I bet we read more Scripture every week than you do at your church. For instance, we sing dozens upon dozens of the Psalms. We also read Old Testament, Epistle, and Gospel passages. Outside of the services, our priest leads a Bible study. And that’s the norm for Orthodoxy

I think Lewis is absolutely correct. I’m of the opinion that when your worship is based on emotion, your perceived ‘connection to God’ will dry up when the emotions do.
