@LizzieMarbach @BreeSolstad Furthermore, this is the typical protestant Pelagianism. "Truly regenerate people never commit any REALLY bad sins. We're the good respectable people now."

Seems perfectly logical to me. Adam managed to fall despite not even being inclined to sin. In fact, that's exactly what 2 Peter 2:20-22 says. The problem is you view regeneration as already beholding the Beatific Vision. The simple fact is if you were right and that everyone who is regenerated could never fall away, the world would look drastically different. And there wouldn't be constant No True Scotsman defenses constantly thrown around. Oh and the Church would have figured that out before the late 16th century.

I'm claiming that God can indeed permit this yes. And St. John confirms it in 1 John 5:16. He's talking to Christians and he mentions literally "deadly" ie MORTAL sin. You're mistake is that you're identifying everyone who is regenerate with everyone the Son will raise up but the text nowhere says this. It's possible to be regenerated and yet NOT be predestined to Heaven. As Galatians clearly shows.

@BeardedAcctant @GatorRob777 @rockreborn22 @sovereignbrah Paul doesn't just say they were mislead. He says the fell from grace.

@BeardedAcctant @GatorRob777 @rockreborn22 @sovereignbrah Also, the entire letter of the Galatians contradicts your opinion. They all "swerved from the truth" and have "fallen from grace" but they also were "running well." Read the beginning of chapter 3. They had the spirit. They had miracles. And they still blew it.

God didn't spiritually kill anyone here to begin with. Sin does that and STILL does! Once again, we know that those whom God predestined to Heaven will be in Heaven. Kanye HAD fruit. He had an album that a ton of people loved and many came to faith through. The STILL might come to faith through his past actions. But that doesn't help him now. The plant can't sprout up at ALL if it "wasn't really alive." Likewise, the unmerciful servant really was forgiven. And THEN he sinned and then was not forgiven anymore. Many such cases.

That is completely a lie from the devil and you're being nothing more than satan's mouthpiece twisting the Scriptures. You don't even believe in God who literally cannot do evil. You're a manichean gnostic dualist who believes that evil is an actual creation of God. Get behind me you wicked servant of the devil.

That's the definition of begging the question. Also, if only the elect ever count as "really" being saved, and no one knows who the elect are, then it follows that you can't know if you or anyone else was ever saved at all. An actual plant springs up from the rocky ground. It's a real plant. You're telling me it's a fake plant.

@GatorRob777 @BeardedAcctant @rockreborn22 @sovereignbrah It does, but the cause of their damnation isn't God, but their own sins. God doesn't make them sin, He simply doesn't choose to ultimately save them from their sins.

It's possible to make a shipwreck of that faith as Scripture attests (1 Timothy 1:19-20). Paul was CONFIDENT in the Philipians because of their virtue which he explains in the VERY NEXT VERSE! "It is right for me to feel thus about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel." Assuming that this will be the case for everyone is the definition of presumption. If you don't know who the elect are, then you don't know if you are counted among the elect either. What you do is humbly pray to be counted in that number.

Double predestination is a category mistake. God doesn't "choose" people for damnation like He does for salvation. Reprobation is qualitatively different from predestination. Reprobation simply means that there are some that God allowed to fail unto their destruction. It's passive. Whereas predestination is active.

@GatorRob777 @BeardedAcctant @rockreborn22 @sovereignbrah No argument here. Everything good comes from the Father of lights. What's in dispute here is if God is sovereign enough to call someone into Salvation temporarily and then allow that person to fall away. I think that God can do that with a clay vessel. Do you?

@NathanBozeman2 @IFFFMEISTER I can't think of a better example of straining a gnat to swallow a camel then what you're doing here.
