So often, their films are a recollection, a personal story from a narrator - to me the edits act like fragmented, discontinuous memories. Also notice they use the audio take for “something like that” when Leo isn’t even moving his mouth … it’s not a disregard … it’s deliberate.

split screens are a perfect visual approach to phone calls - but this one steps up the style, using a flickering flame as the edge of our split. I also love how they're framed different - Leo in CU, John in MS.
