Yes indeed we did. 860 knots is too fast for an F/A-18 flying that low through a canyon. This was corrected during the edit to 660, but it is an important piece of information to see & hear the protagonist deliver on camera, and we thought we’d got away with it (until now).

Many times. Just keep going, one shot at a time, get to the end, don’t worry if it’s any good yet. Take a break (for a few days if you can) then review, revise, recut. Stay calm. Trust the process. You’ll get there.

Yes it’s 28 minutes in... we tried the main titles (beautifully crafted by
@FilmographLA
) in +many+ places and only settled on this in the last week of editing (after well over two and a half years). But yes they work so well where they are and feel just right.

Tom always gives us lots of variety so we can refine and refine the edit until it all flows perfectly. I think we had around 30 line readings from the dailies, then McQ and I reviewed them all carefully and landed on that combination after trying lots of options.

It was the first sequence I worked on because all the USS Lincoln footage was a pre-shoot. Then we kept updating as new footage came in. I think we locked the opening montage over a year and a half later. Crucial sequence because you have to win the audience over in two minutes.
