and since kids are mostly on phones, rarely pc(even there its someone else with parental control privelege setting stuff up for them), have not seen their fs for long time, most installs are done through UI, appstores, markets, trusted sites

modding you are talking about is dragging files in .mincraft/mods in your appdata, the modding I'm talking about is digging into resources of the game and changing models meshes, repackaging it.
the first would still be hard for someone who did not use file system at all tho

id say a LOT of people use binaries, thats what an EXE is. and command lines are used by devs and UNIX system users, they are still used,were primary way of interaction back then. now its all gui, as in.. the phone

to open file you need systemwide association for what that file is, when os does not know(7z) you need to know to find an app that can open it. intuitively for kids who did not knew that files have extentions and did not interact with fs it is a task on its own.
