After hours of listening to the RPT @TexasGOP committee deliberate and try to shrink the number of issues on the platform, they finally allowed public testimony around 10:00 pm. I suggested we put School Choiceā¢ļø at the VERY BOTTOM since it was too late to kick it out altogether. School Choiceā¢ļø keeps us from addressing the most important issues in Texas. @FamiliesEngaged My next suggestion was to define strings : Accountability measures - testing Accreditation - control teachers - hiring - eliminates God and religious freedom Accounting - where the money goes Academic - controlling what is taught Alignment - UNESCO, WEF, global standards with all children on devices learning the same junk Access - what better way to access those outside the system (private/home) than to dangle the money? Administration - Certified Education Assistance Org (CEAO) Astroturf Always follow the moneyā¦

Good grief! Why donāt you ask @TPPF why they donāt go after that? @MaryDunlaphome and I did. They never mentioned where the other 60% is really going. Not a peep about edtech vendors, consultants and harmful devices (which they support!). And no mention of TEA money laundering. Thereās your low-hanging fruit to return to taxpayers for āeducational freedom.ā

This was written by @AndyHopperTX for @TexasScorecard in 2022: āIn the midst of this shift, there is a move afoot to scam Texans with a voucher plan that, at first glance, would seem to help homeschooling and private schooling parents, but will inevitably destroy the movement. āVouchersā or āEducational Savings Accountsā (ESA) will ultimately bait parents to allow government to first collect tax dollars from citizens, and then graciously return that money if the parents agree to use āapprovedā curriculum and services. The state is still sovereign, creating the rules and regulations that parents must follow in order to have their tax dollars returned to them so they can āeducate their children in whatever manner they see fit.ā This is ironic since they would have to follow the governmentās rules instead of having the right to make their own decisions about their childrenās education. It is nearly the exact same strategy that the federal government has taken to destroy public education in the first place, by stealing money from the states, and then extorting local districts by offering them federal dollars if they agree to abide by the federal standards put in place by the Department of Education. Districts are forced to sink to the lowest common denominator of mediocrity in a one-size-fits-all system.ā

That ballot language was vague and not the same as the actual bills. The devil is in the details. The RPT platform is not vague. It clearly states āwith no strings attachedā and that āwe oppose regulations on homeschooling.ā SB 2 is a terrible expansion of government and overreach and will cost taxpayers more than just dollars. Why would we flee the public schools and all of the issues imposed on them with STAAR, curriculum, and other experimental reforms only to accept government regulated School Choiceā¢ļø which imposes the same? Shelley says we eat our own? What about her highest donor and our governor going after incumbents in our party solely on this issue? She should eat those words.

Thatās a false dilemma fallacy that if I oppose ESAs and the growth of the comptroller and TEA, I must be like Gene Wu. They pulled that crap on me during covidā¦if I oppose masks and vaccines, I want to k|ll grandmaā¦ Why do you support a $4.55B vendor bill and the layers of bureaucracy that will change the landscape of private and homeschooling? Whereās your common sense? The bill is not conservative and goes against our party priorities and principles. Read the bill.
Iām not wrong about the new Texas voucher bill, SB2. Not at all. It is an ABSOLUTE trash bill. Currently donors & powerful politicians are working overtime bullying elected officials over SB2. Yāall, this is TERRIFYING! This is not how a representative form of government should work. Donors will soon begin ad campaigns to counter my claims & the claims of all the other thousands of Republican voters with me. The people of Texas are against this bill! The proposition language that was on the Republican primary ballot is NOT SB2. Our Republican Party of Texas plank on school choice is NOT SB2. Have questions? Shoot. Iām happy to answer them. Email all Reps, contact them any way you can. X is great! But you have to email them too. This is an $11B transfer of our tax dollars to donors for only 98k children in 5 years. For real. We are about to find out if Texas will be sold by our representatives to donors. #TEXASISNOTFORSALE Itās big deal, write your Rep. *emails in the comments*

This is a nod to vouchers and virtual ed. King is being rewarded for his allegiance to the plan.
Had the opportunity to meet with Rep. @KingForTexas this week at the Capitol. We discussed the critical need to pass school choice this session. Weāll also work to ensure Texas is well-equipped to fight wildfires. Thanks for all the great work you do, Rep. King.

@MonicaHamiltonJ @ZebraStrongMama @ShelleyLuther School Choice is a litmus test. Where you stand on it is everything. Thatās why our governor has prioritized it over everything else.
