Update: I'm in trouble now. Discovered that Tankboy's wife organizes the Bucktown Garden Walk. I put a Garden Walk sign stating the irony of this since he filed a 311 on my garden and he called the cops.

@ChicagoDogs55 Based on years of doing this, over 90% of pedestrian incidents occur on the other side of the street. They took parking away from this side day lighting it. You can easily see pedestrians there unless you're not paying attention or have small side windows like on a Cybertruck.

@cbschicago The neighborhood reckless drivers, of which there are many, who are used to flying through stop signs daring pedestrians to cross in their way, make the calls to get these removed and lobby to prevent CDOT from installing them. The reckless driving lobby is powerful.

@slucy A safe driver would have seen the stopped car with a green light and slowed preparing for trouble. Having to swerve like this means you already lost and are lucky the turning car cooperated by not hitting you. Identify, Predict, Decide, and Execute.

@slucy My motorcycle safety instructor taught us that it doesn't matter who is at fault in an accident when we're the ones who end up in a wheelchair or dead. In other words, always assume a car is going to turn in front of you and prepare. Works for driving cars too.
