It has pointed out by more tech savvy ppl than myself that it is not ‘impossible’ to fact check, but my point stands. Surely you’d only use this tool to save time, and if you’re in a high pressure environment you’re (probably) not verifying sources. Hire researchers.

I would love to see the government continue to fund TV licenses for the over 75s…. but if they refuse, I don’t think the BBC should bear this burden. Most over 75s are perfectly capable of paying, in fact, many have larger disposable incomes than their children or grandchildren.

I made a Horizon doc with Michael Mosley in Blackpool in 2018 & my parents came to watch. Between takes he made the effort to go over & tell them what a good director he thought I was.
Whilst clearly untrue it was a kind and thoughtful gesture and sums up the man he was.

Any cuts to local radio and TV news are a tragedy. With more powers being devolved to local authorities / city mayors etc, this scrutiny is essential to a functioning democracy... and I can't see Netflix, Amazon, Google or Facebook taking up the mantle.
BBC cuts starting to happen, with people being called into briefings. Staff told BBC Oxford and Cambridge TV news will shut down later this year. Other cuts to local BBC TV/radio output expected today due to licence fee freeze and to free up £££ for digital services.
