re: white authors writing racist books, i want to stress that "get a sensitivity reader!" is not a perfect solution. there is still a power imbalance.
SRs are often put in situations where they have to choose btwn staying employed & being honest that a book isn't appropriate.

they definitely track reading speed for regular ebooks bc i always use the feature that predicts how many hours or minutes are left in a chapter/the book. they have the technology to easily mark a book as non returnable if you read past 35% they just choose not to
