Companies have limited opportunities to express their brand internally. What makes working here different from there? We want to feel like we are making something that could last forever, but when building software, it can feel difficult to reflect and visualize where all those
Happy to share that I'm hiring another brand designer to our team. You will get to make stuff all day, have a lot of creative ownership, move quickly, and help us build a brand around knowledge, discovery, and curiosity.
Something an LLM could do in a kindle is offer a quick recap every time you open up a book again. Sliding window summary of last few pages to make it easier to get back into the flow.
Early innings.
Special kudos to

for designing a breakout, consumer grade experience to rival some formidable incumbents
Go work for this guy!
I've been updating the

icons. I started with some of the primary icons and extended the style into some of the secondary ones. It's been fun!
Rather than forcing each designer into a stencil, our visual brand is the sum of its stewards; there are bits of all of us in there. It keeps the brand evolving and it allows each designer be the best version of themselves.
I'm really excited to share this because we made the product more powerful and sophisticated without making it feel more complex. In many ways, it even feels simpler and easier to understand, as it explains to you what it's doing.
We’re excited to announce an updated version of our Pro Search that can perform deeper research on more complex queries with multi-step reasoning, Wolfram|Alpha, and code execution.
There are many different approaches and values that lead to great software design. I think the most effective ones match the product, the market, and come with clear tradeoffs. Here are the v0 perplexity design team values:
the fun part of design is when you helped ship something and people use it. You get to see people use the software and experience delight, utility, or fun. Organizations that have turned designers into idea visualizers, maintaining complex mockup systems have lost the plot.
I don't want to create software that feels like the future; I want it to feel like it’s always been there. It should be such a natural extension of us and a solution to our needs that we simply forget there was another way.
Excited to share that I recently joined

as a product designer / ui engineer, working alongside a phenomenal team (and
@henrymodis
, again!). AI-native search is just beginning to take flight and I’m happy to get to play a small part in its development. Let’s go!
We put a bench in a room in the office. A frontend engineer and a backend engineer sat down and worked together. Every idea in “A Pattern Language” immediately validated.
Proud to announce our partnership with

I'm looking for someone to come work with me! If you are interested in thinking about systems and process as well as building tools for designers, engineers, and data scientists, then consider this unique design role.

Today marks the first year anniversary of the launch of , launched on Dec 7, 2022. Lot of people ask me why we ended up being the best product in this category. If I had to pick one word: it is conviction. We believed world needed answers rather than links.
In my last interview round, someone asked me why I am doing this. I thought that people usually respond with some grandiose statement...
"is it ok if I just like making software?"
That's the dullest thing about me, but it's def. the truth, regardless of financial standing.
"The artist exists because the world is not perfect. Art would be useless if the world were perfect, as man wouldn't look for harmony but simply live in it."
From the most basic version of Perplexity until where we are now, I've always had conviction that we've made something useful and that it will only get more useful. A big part of the work ahead is getting more people in the world to ask their first question.
We're experimenting with a new format for discovering stories on Perplexity, rolling out on iOS. Spotted the changes? We'd love to hear your thoughts – your feedback is always appreciated!
I'm really happy to share this update. So much information and context lives in images and video. Not only do they enhance the reading experience but they provide new paths for getting the answers to your questions. This gives us an elegant foundation for more to come.
Your quest for knowledge expands beyond text. Our latest update brings a new dimension to your search, seamlessly integrating images and videos to visually enhance every answer. Try it now on !

Huge props to the brand team—I’m immensely proud of my talented teammates and everything we’ve achieved together. And a big thanks to everyone who helped us along the way!
I love doing this type of software design that unlocks and encourages unknown emergent behaviors. You find that the problems and decisions you are faced with are much more akin to urban planning than to designing an object like a clock.
The best systems in our world are composed of few parts and few simple rules that give rise to maximum freedom, possibilities, complexities, while keeping things as intuitive and obvious as possible.
Designing software is no different.
Every shooting is painful. This one happened where I grew up. That was my grocery store. That’s where I went for a snack after school as a kid. That’s where people I love would be. I feel hopeless America.
Very happy to share that I've joined

! So stoked for the journey ahead and grateful to be surrounded by some true design legends. Let's gooo! 💫
Speaks to innovation vs. optimization. Innovation comes from people willing something into existence that they wish they had. Afterwards, you optimize by adapting that to the market. Also speaks to why many great things end up dying through optimization
This advice from
@RickRubin
hits home:
"The audience comes last. I believe that. I'm not making it for them. I'm making it for me. And it turns out that when you make something truly for yourself, you're doing the best thing you possibly can for the audience.
So much of why if
There's so much efficiency to gain by improving all the tools, experience, and process around programming. Merging, deploying, dev environments, lint errors, etc etc. These things kill the flow more than anything

I shipped this Quora navigation pattern like 8 years ago. At the time, there was nothing like it that I was aware of but phones were getting bigger and thumbs were not getting longer.
Today I figured out that instead of telling Alexa to “turn off” the lights I can say “Alexa kill the lights” which has totally changed the vibe of my apartment

We want to reduce the time between wanting to know something and knowing something. Different goals lead to a different product.
