What would you think if a professor would ask the students to do an assignment only on Apple products? That would be absurd, wouldn’t it? Now remember that students are forced to deliver projects on Microsoft Word, MATLAB, and SolidWorks on daily basis!

It is like new C-killer programming languages are popping up almost every day: Rust, Zig, Odin... you name it. I wish folks would stop reinventing the wheel and instead would spend their valuable time and intellect on solving the issues with C ecosystem.

If you believe the customer is not smart enough to choose for him/her-self, then sure you need over-regulation. I personally think the role of government is to ensure freedom of the press and fair competition. Then things should be naturally sorted out.

A better approach IMHO would be to offer students the option to use Free, Libre and Open Source Software alternatives such as

, Octave, and
@FreeCADNews
. Taxpayer’s money should not be used to promote a proprietary software, I believe.

Government is not a charity, nor an insurance company. Paying medical bills by the government, means higher taxes for the middle class. I'm really sorry to see this, but if I had money to spare I would donate it charities, not the government.

at least here in the Netherlands, the construction industry has turned into a cartel due to the massive overregulation. A handful of companies have formed an oligopoly keeping every new player out of the bay.

I'm sorry but illegal immigration is one of those lines that draws the line between a libertarian and an anarchist. The former, IMHO, believe in strong and secure borders that keeps smugglers and criminals away from the country. A country is the property of its citizens.

critisizing an open source software like this doesn't help anyone. if there are features lacking or issues, go to their repository and ask for it nicely. remember you are not paying a penny for this. they provide you with free and open source software because they are humans.

Both VBScript and JScript are still being shipped with all Windows OSes. You can run .js and .vbs files using cscript.exe or wscript.exe, or embed them in Windows Script / Scripting Host (WSH) or HTML Application (HTA) files.

Do you really believe C --> Rust/Zig is equivalent to Python 2 --> 3? I would have very few complaints if that was really the case. I have tried many different programming languages so far. Very few look as ugly as Rust TBH. Its syntax is paradoxical!

It baffles me that people and corporations would rather deprecate their software than FLOSSing it. This should be the subject of research in human sciences. How is it possible that humans prefer their work to die out instead of others enjoying it for free?
