@Noonlyrice Indeed, but note that OpenOffice is no longer supported and has unfixed security issues over a year old: – All development has moved to LibreOffice, the successor project.

@chrisgrigsby @TheRocsWorld Hi! Understood, but OpenOffice isn't an umbrella term – it's the name of a specific piece of software that has unfixed security issues, but is still made available. A lot of people don't know that there are maintained successors, so better to mention them explicitly we think 😊

@chrisgrigsby @TheRocsWorld Why OpenOffice? It's had no major update since 2014, no minor updates since the end of 2023, and unfixed security issues now: – Far better to use one of the actively developed successor projects, like LibreOffice...

@PatOfLancs @whataimeereads_ That's risky – OpenOffice is not being updated any more, and has unfixed security issues: – Far better to use one of the actively maintained successor projects, like LibreOffice!

@Ytilee @Presha_Orion Yes, OpenOffice's last big update was in 2014 and it has stopped doing any updates now. All development has moved to LibreOffice, the actively maintained successor project.

@jjSuper1 Did you report the problem to our QA community? If so, and it's a valid report, you can see in the bug report response if the fix is included in LibreOffice 25.2.0.

@markcamilleri5 @lefavabean @NotionHQ Note that OpenOffice is no longer getting updates, and has unfixed security holes over a year old: – All development (and all Linux distros) have moved to LibreOffice as a result.

@alek10002 @unusual_whales ...not the best idea, as it's no longer getting updates, and has unfixed security issues: – All development has moved to the successor projects (such as LibreOffice).

@MrsKimmieC Well, we're not a company so we don't need to "sell" you on anything. We're a non-profit organisation supporting a community that makes an open source, privacy-oriented office suite. Why not just try it for yourself and see if it works for you? 😊

@Sorinake_Jordan @Pirat_Nation It's risky to use OpenOffice as it's no longer receiving updates, and has unfixed security issues over a year old: – At least move to one of the actively maintained successor projects (like LibreOffice).

@bacongworld @BryceTea_ Not a good idea to use software that's no longer receiving updates, and has unfixed security issues: – All development in the last decade has moved to LibreOffice, the successor project.

@RedditLs @MrRickLennon @unusual_whales Just be aware that OpenOffice is no longer getting updates and has multiple unfixed security issues: – For the last decade, all development has moved to LibreOffice, the actively maintained successor project!
