The Pak software industry really does need unionization. Long hours, some firms running without even following minimum labour laws, layoffs at whim in some. If they mention good pay, just look at their profit margins: $20-25/hr min for a developer who gets paid 60-70k
The company has a history of doing mass firing. Being basically a offshore office of a larger entity in US you'd expect them to increase pay during $-hike or give christmas breaks. but nothing of that sort happens. Why don't we software engineers have unions like other profession

I will say this, having insider knowledge of people in AC and LUMS, that there is nothing special in these circles. Only lack of privilege which keeps more talented people out of these institutes.
Elite is occupying decisionmaking in every field. They reinforce power through their networks. Ppl who can't speak English or cdnt enter into Aichison/LUMS/LSE/Oxford/Cambridge/IVL are not considered talented. Eilite education with elite family network is needed fr success in Pak

LUMS released some accounting details a couple of years ago and they had surpluses ranging from 200 million to 800 million rupees for a stretch of some 4 years at least. I think you all should ask why all this profit is not being used to keep fees lower. And go on strike.
