Little thread for newcomers.
I was:

- Raised Reformed Christian (PCA)
- Oldest of eight
- Attended Liberty University for undergrad (Government: Pre-Law, plus 1L year of law school before dropping out).
- Got my MFA in film & television at SCAD.

If you’re a far-right identitarian, if you’re recently converted to being Reformed because you thought it sounded “based,” you may not last long after you read our confessions and the Reformers.
Calvin says all men are your neighbor, including the “most remote stranger.”
If Pastor Joel Webbon (
@rightresponsem
) was part of a confessional Christian denomination, if he submitted his church to the broader church like Acts 15 shows, he could be defrocked for urging a future where non-believers are starved and Christians stand by. Alas, he is nondenom
@hillbillythings
His family had been operating the orphanage for decades. I doubt any missionaries throughout history would simply leave the city they felt called to by God simply because unrest breaks out.
My thoughts on being turned away from the
@grimkeseminary
event last week, now that I’ve had time to think them over and discuss them with others.
Appreciated their kindness even as they let me know I was blacklisted, and hope we interact again under better circumstances.
Really saddened by
@ZacharyGarris
’ representation of my denomination.
He e says the Bible allows permanent chattel slavery, we shouldn’t condemn it, and abolitionism should be rejected.
He’s also writing a book that will (allegedly) oppose PCA women’s congregational voting.

Many Orthodox say “Memory eternal” as well as several other variations. The geographic overlap between the two groups in Europe likely mean a lot of similar phrases could have evolved.
Still blocked, but this is a good first step.
Still needs discipline/mentoring, probably shouldn’t be pastoring a church, and desperately needs to account for other Twitter behavior like the racist memes he keeps liking.
I support doing background checks for
#PCAGA
elders, deacons, staff, and volunteers. Earlier this year, I helped a friend with some background checking on a longtime PCA deacon at his church, that I had attended as a kid. We discovered the deacon was a sex offender (1/2)
When you see a former libertarian acquaintance who was somewhat successful, published, etc. has fallen down the rabbit hole of white nationalism so much that he’s . . . Selling his house to escape Indian gas station operators?

I know so, so many women who grew up in super fundamentalist homeschool families who struggle with gender dysphoria. Many times it’s easier to embrace that they are a man, than to unwrite everything they were taught growing up about what it means to be a woman.
I’m not a dispensationalist, not even a premillenial, and definitely not a neoconservative but this plane crash/earthquake/missile attack night in Iran reads like a chapter from a
@JoelCRosenberg
novel, which I read constantly as a kid and got me fascinated with int. affairs.
Thankful for the time that my black college debate partner, also an ordained minister at the time, took to explain to me why Americans like him felt uncomfortable with the 4th of July, and why Juneteenth resonated with them.
I love the 4th. But some people don’t, and that’s ok.
Joel Webbon explaining that he is not racist, it’s just important to him that his black neighbors only celebrate an approved set of “Anglo-Protestant” holidays.
@redeemed_zoomer
As someone in a five-generations American Presbyterian family, with PCA and PCUSA ministers on both sides, I couldn’t disagree more with every point here, and it makes me wonder if you’ve been a Presbyterian long or been to very many of each type of church.
If anyone wants to meet at
#PCAGA
and hear my thoughts on nine years of examining the far right, seeing too many friends and young Reformed guys lost down the rabbit hole, and study the history of the struggle between the church and fascism, let me know!
@DPCassidyTKC
I’ve been dealing with these types since my on-campus protest in 2015, and doing video journalism and interviews with alt right in 2017. The far right is kinda my pet topic/personal ministry effort.
What’s “silly and woke” about abolishing slavery? The holiday has existed this entire time, it just wasn’t federally recognized. It was in Texas.
Nationalists-try-not-being-offended-by-antiracism challenge, level: impossible.
Martin Luther King was a great man, but he was not great enough to replace Lincoln and Washington.
We need to reinstate holidays to commemorate Lincoln and Washington.
And we should abolish Juneteenth, a silly woke holiday.

They do do that. And people on the right don’t acknowledge how systemic racism and mass incarceration lead to absent black fathers.
Protestants don’t believe in highest callings, we believe in holy callings. That’s a holy calling. The barren have holy callings. The celibate have holy callings. The missionaries, professionals, and young have holy callings.
Don’t make a Protestant nunhood around housewifery.

My wife is interviewing for an English professorship at a Christian college tomorrow, and unlike some alt right trolls who for two years have (falsely) accused her of writing erotica, she’s never been accused of that in a Christian academic setting, because they can read.
The explanation is almost worse: at the bottom he has a division between repentant former sinners who made life choices they regret and “righteous” — all within the church. What on earth? This idea is so absent from Christian history.
Of course we love our own children more.
Pastor Joel Webbon (
@rightresponsem
) uses that good and natural affection to imply as long as there’s a benefit to our immediate family, those we have the highest duty to, we can support candidates who allow the heinous to others.
@ihopkc
“Organizational sovereignty” — yes, that’s the very problem. Churches are beholden to all of Christ’s body. They don’t get organizational sovereignty.
First time hearing about Michael, but proud of the OPC for dealing with him. I deeply enjoyed attending an OPC church in the Presbytery of the Southeast during undergrad.
Michael seals the case for his lacking a call when he praises a Nazi in his own argument to the Presbytery:
Deeply blessed by

, self-ordained “Presbyterian” minister) had translate part of his pro-Hitler book.
Bonus: Joel Webbon with the worst take on Lord of the Rings you have ever heard, and demonstrating exactly how stupid he thinks it is to be concerned with limiting power in order to preserve liberty or human rights.

All this is good except the flashers. That’s illegal in most states if the car isn’t stopped, and having them on when you’re not stopped can lead to dangerous mistakes.

He does also say “the closer the relation the more frequent our offices of kindness should be. For the condition of humanity requires that there be more duties in common between those who are more nearly connected.”
No one objects, not the same as denying all men are neighbors.

It’s not right. What did Christ say about a little leaven? The poison here damages countless people. And abuse of children, who Christ values, is rampant.
When I asked an elder I knew from that church how he was beyond approach, when he could be credibly accused, and why they didn’t inform congregants, the elder, who is also an attorney, said people are legalistic and don’t understand Grace.

, I’m a conservative Christian extremely alarmed that you’ve allowed your platform to raise $21,000 for a proven white supremacist in just the last two days. Some of the comments on the fundraiser are using phrases known to be associated with white supremacy.

: President Trump picks Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio for Vice President on the Republican ticket.

I commonly see Christians say “I could never believe in a God that ________.” Often over varying (but orthodox) positions, like soteriology, gender, and the end times.
I avoid this. I have a certainty I am wrong about many things, and I have faith God will forgive my error.
This is your friendly reminder that the Bible is not a story about “God’s love for us,” even though “God’s love” is a major plot point in the story of the Bible.
The Bible is actually about inter-dimensional cosmic powers fighting a war over the ownership and fate of humanity.
He went to jail for having sex with his underage student. And 2-3 years later was ordained in a PCA church. Still required to register each year. Was never mentioned when I was a 10yo at that church. Not mentioned today according to my friend. He leads the marriage ministry (2/2)
