Roughly 10M people have emigrated from Ireland since 1800 we are a nation of immigrants. We’ve spread across the globe; built cities, families and communities. We’ve no right to deny the same to anyone deciding to come here to build our cities, families and communities.

Call out the IRA & apparently I'm just as bad because I'm proud of those I know who served in army & police. Those who did wrong in either group need brought to justice, but there is no comparing an ordinary rank & file officer who did community work to a terrorist on my watch.

Alliance members can tell themselves they’re “constitutionally neutral” (whatever that means) until they’re blue in the face, but as long as they are parroting and arguing for the validity of ni as an entity as it exists today then they are constitutionally pro union.

Gobsmacked after reading this. Apparently SF are ‘refusing’ to power-share because they won’t ‘gift’ the DUP a mayoral seat in this council term. Do they genuinely feel it is their ‘right’ to rule despite democracy? Revealing levels of a lingering supremacist entitled mindset.

Newly qualified drs are paid even less in the North of Ireland. When I qualify I will have a BSc, a MSc and an MBBS - 8 years of university and lots of debt. Solidarity to all junior drs striking in England for pay restoration this week.

If Shirlow and Creighton represent the calibre of persuasive argument that United Irelanders will be up against in a BP debate then we can all relax. A lack of reality, devoid of fact based arguments and relying on long defunct myths to dress up a vacuous position.

Thought about writing a tweet outlining how my non grammar school served us better by nurturing us & building our self esteem to become functional adjusted adults, we certainly weren’t limited. But instead I’ll just call Weir a snob and leave it at that!

AQE have decided, due to COVID-19, that the transfer tests cannot proceed this year. This severely limits parental choice & children’s opportunities, with disappointment for many children & parents. I will continue to work with all stakeholders in these difficult circumstances.

The right decision. Alliance should do the same in solidarity. The wishes of the people of this island have been ignored for too long, their days of dictating are long gone. We decide who represents us, not the British government.

Where’s the data that shows house parties and calling to your mummies for tea is where contagion is occurring at a greater rate than in public spaces? Is it available?

@ScottMoore0 @SorchaEastwood Tbf, I don’t think people are objecting necessarily to the flag, or indeed Sorcha expressing an identity - she’s fully entitled. I think people are frustrated at her continual tone deafness and frank hypocrisy considering she regularly claims to be above identity politics.

I had a nurse ask what my name was in English, when I told her she put a line through my name and said “oh I’ll just call you that then”. Also had a midwife ask me in front of a crowded clinic “is that your actual name? Like on your actual birth certificate?”

@michaelpierse @IRLPatricia My sister went to a baby shower once where she was the only nationalist. They all started playing a drinking game called “spot the Irish name”. Not one person had to be told the rules - they’d all obviously played it before.

What happened today in Dublin was shocking, a horrific senseless attack. But, the horrific act of one individual does not implicate an entire group of people who are not a monolith. We cannot allow the far right to seize the narrative here for their own self serving objectives
