One might have expected more from the SocDem leader, who is forever complaining about politics becoming more toxic. I am afraid she can only see fault in others and seems incapable of reflecting on her own responsibilities.
Criticism is fine. Expected. But some human empathy or goodwill between party leaders - as one leaves - would help to detoxify our politics. Especially given the vicious abuse Leo Varadkar and his partner have suffered.

This whole concocted controversy simply reflects the fact that we have a reasonably efficient stable administration: a minor discrepancy is elevated to ‘mired in scandal’ because the media and opposition struggle to get traction. It’s a nothingburger
