Note for Australian urban planners - three storey walk ups with narrow streets and tall trees is extremely suitable for our climate
Just put some Italian piazzas and football pitches every few hundred metres or so
The traditional urban form in most warm climates puts tallish buildings along narrow streets that rarely get direct sun.
Inside, arcaded courtyards have abundant shade from both buildings and plants.
These photos are from Morocco but you see the same across the Mediterranean.
