This is one of the most midwit opinions that floats. If the US had not nuclear bombed Japan, a land invasion would have been necessary to win the war. And that would have meant far more casualties. The nukes killed about 226,000 people. An invasion would mean millions more!.

Personally I think this is REALLY funny. I seem to have broken some humanities people taboo.
Normally I might post that this tweet shows someone who has been sadly deprived of an education in the humanities, but I think what it really shows is that some people don’t actually deserve an education in the humanities

Respectfully can someone explain how anyone can get through 4 years of a CS degree without knowing how to do fizzbuzz? . How do you pass an intro algos class or even an intro CS class. Forget complex ones like design and analysis of algos.
@ClosedFormJest Many new grads can’t even solve fizzbuzz….

Average salary for a highly educated female working in Pakistan's richest state's urban area: 67k PKR/Month. Assuming a 40h workweek and 4 weeks that's 418 PKR/hr. He's paying her 1126 PKR/hr. A deal she is willing to accept. We should be cheering this deal!.
Last night my 12 year old was struggling with Algebra, so I immediately posted a job for a tutor on Upwork. Literally 10 minutes later we were Zooming with a PhD professor in Pakistan for $4/hour. She whipped him into shape & will help him 5 hours/week now. Impatience can be

The thing about India that it has all of the social controls in personal life (eg whom to marry), but none in public life (eg littering). Taken the worst of all worlds.
When my mother first moved to Japan, she tried to jaywalk while pushing a stroller on an empty residential street. She was immediately stopped by an old, well dressed Japanese man who solemnly told her in perfect English "the downfall of society begins with the individual".

Some reason reasons here.1. Singapore forces residents to save ~37% of their income for CPF which substitutes for pension spending. Ditto for healthcare where a combination of competition bw public hospitals and forced savings keeps health spending low.
Singapore seems unique among wealthy industrialized countries in having a low share of government spending as a share of the GDP.

Ronald Coase said he had gotten tired of antitrust because when the prices went up the judges said it was monopoly, when the prices went down they said it was predatory pricing, and when they stayed the same they said it was tacit collusion.
Giant grocery store chains force high food prices onto American families while rewarding executives & investors with lavish bonuses and stock buybacks. I'm demanding they answer for putting corporate profits over consumers and workers during the pandemic.

Every 2 months some NRI (Non Resident Indian) posts this and every time the Indians on this site point out how easy it is in India. And the Americans point out how this is only possible in a country with massive inequality and only possible for the rich in India.
Raising a child in the US seems hellish compared to India. US—Wake up early, cook, drive kid to work, both parents work, do groceries, chores, cleaning. Lonely. India—Maid cleans, driver drops you, groceries in 15mins, cook cooks, parents babysit. Community. (requires $$). 1/4.
