Sugar addiction thread 1/18 The man or woman in the street might say ‘I’m addicted to chocolate’, for example. It seems broadly accepted by ‘the public’ that what we put in our mouths can lead to unwanted addictive behaviours with negative impacts on our health & wellbeing.

I prefer lamb to beef. I just do! It’s a complete protein apparently and has more omega 3 than beef. I just enjoy it more. Also you just can’t intensively rear sheep. So you know it’s grass fed. Here’s our mini flock. Any other lamb fans out there? #buybritish

Home made scotch eggs! #LCHF made with our own eggs and pork. Soft boil eggs. Mix herbs, seasoning and mustard into pork mince. Wrap the eggs in mince. Dip in beaten egg then crushed pork cracking or ground almond. Fry in lard to brown then bake eg 10 mins until pork cooked. Yum

3/18 I prefer the term sugar addiction and not food addiction. The evidence suggests that it is foods containing sugar or refined carbohydrates such as flour, often in combination with fat and salt, which are particularly problematic in terms of ‘moderation’.

I’m not a medical doctor but even I know dried fruit is a bad idea for people with blood glucose control problems What’s up @DiabetesUK @tesconews ?!? One banana fresh or dried is equivalent to about 5+ tsp sugar. Amount in normal blood is 1 tsp. Try with a CGM! Disappointing.

16/17 Each person must work out their own trigger foods over time. What can you NOT moderate, that is the key thing to notice. I can bet it won’t be eggs, fish or broccoli! Your reward will be freedom from cravings, overeating, shame, low mood and illness.

Feeding a crowd? Whole pork shoulder bone in. Massaged with five spice, garlic, paprika and garlic in olive oil. Going in the oven for 18-24 hours. The house will smell amazing. Roll on tomorrow. A slight twist on @HughFW recipe in his splendid #meat book.

Locally this morning...the top soil blowing away in the wind because the field is ploughed. Just leave it as grass over winter and put some sheep on it?! Also a massive heated greenhouse-could actually feel the heat as I ran past 😬 um! Maybe we should eat more seasonally?
