Once a friend’s family couldn’t afford a tree or presents. My mom took me to buy & set up a tree for them & put presents underneath. She told me the most important thing was to never tell them it was us bc the glory isn’t in their gratitude but their happiness. Best lesson ever.

I was once homeless in the winter in Wisconsin when I was 17 & slept in a sleeping bag in a tent. I’d put my whole head in the sleeping bag and try to let as little outside air in under the covers as possible- it’s amazing how much your own breath can warm that tiny space.

Ok, friends- biggest surgery yet is tmw morning @ 8:30 am to disconnect my arm/hand from my abdomen. I’m really, really, REALLY nervous. All day long, all I hear is other patients screaming in pain. I don’t want to die on the operating table. Keep me in your thoughts please 🙏🏻
