Turns out when your privacy assumptions break *faster* the *more* nodes you run, you have no ground to stand on. Everyone knew TEE was a short-term solution; sad to see it was this short. More investment into the ZKP+FHE+MPC privacy trinity can give us actual solutions: 🧵/9

honestly, I don't think we need "zk-friendly" constructions anymore. Poseidon Hash and BN254 will be obsolete in a few years given all the investment in making keccak and secp256k1 faster, and eventually, curves like NIST P-256 will join the ranks

when people realize that blockchains are about renting trust machines just like AWS is about renting compute machines, we’ll have mass adoption + apps and we can actually build things that call themselves “internet” not “crypto”
my main takeaway from

is that everyone is building their own slightly different infrastructure protocol, while the vast minority are actually building any apps to run on all of this infrastructure.
the sceptic in me realizes most of these people just want to get rich but

recursion is one of the most powerful ideas in modern cryptography. in ZK it’s “i can verify myself” and in FHE it’s “i can decrypt myself” generalized to “X can verify Y” and “A can decrypt B” to give us efficient ways to transfer between protocols. what strange loops we live in

This is a great overview! Excited to see OpenZL finally coming out: now time to build an open source community around it. DM me if ur in the ZK space and want to start helping us grow the library. Oh and BTW, there’s already a Plonky2 plugin in the works …
There has been an explosion of tools, frameworks, and libraries for zkApps, which leads to a lack of standardization and interoperability of common circuits.
That's where OpenZL becomes useful, an open standard for zkApps

I like Rust because traits are just powerful enough of an abstraction that you don’t have to go off the deep end into category theory just to do anything interesting. Also, Rust borrowing is super intuitive to me (we need polonius tho!). But Zig actually did comptime right.
