Update : In custody!
@NOPDNews
did a phenomenal job, from responding officer to detective. Detective immediately recognized him. He does this all over Lakeview and third district.
God forbid you leave your garage open in Lakeview at 830am, because some shitbag driving in the alleys will plunder everything he can find. The good news is that if he's caught, his bond will be set lower than the amount he got from selling my drills.

I am the victim in the June 29 burglary. I have it on HD video and gave to detectives. Bail went from $25,000 to a free release in days. He was already on probation when he did it, which should have prompted a hold. The criminal justice system is completely broken.
Disgusting.
My friend Spencer Chauvin was killed at 36 by an illegal immigrant on I-10 while serving as a volunteer firefighter responding to an accident scene just past LaPlace.
The New Orleans delegation continues to embarass the city (difficult to do) and the state.
Today, I brought SB 212 before Senate Transportation. This bill would give people regardless of immigration status access to a driver’s license. There are currently numerous barriers to access for people who do not have a current visa or asylum status who need a license (1/2)

Here's an idea. Until you figure out whose "responsibility" this is, there's no electronic monitoring and they stay in jail. The public, not the 15 year old arrested for his 12th burglary, is the priority.
The

Ridiculous take. Tulane Police did an outstanding job managing that situation.
Davante would cheer them on as they took over buildings....because the money paying for all those green tents and funding Davante's campaign comes from the same exact place.
Actually, this is wrong. The
@CityOfNOLA
is solely responsible for providing a sufficiently sized jail for its pretrial detainees. The state has no role in that.
While the taxpayers had the rare opportunity to have FEMA foot the entire bill for that, the New Orleans City
New Orleans is apparently in an "overwhelmingly conservative district" according to this fluff piece. If you thought you hated the media enough, you don't.
Skooks is never concerned about the injuries and deaths from shootings but his radar is locked on to the fender bender which occurred grabbing armed felons in a stolen car full of drugs.
Meanwhile, can do donuts in a Charger at a major intersection, with your passenger holding a long gun while leaning out the passenger window, and any charges are refused in New Orleans.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell puts state lawmakers on blast for passing permitless carry of a concealed weapon. She says it will not make the city safer.

Today was historic for The City of New Orleans and Starbucks Coffee Company! 💚☕️
We are working together to identify ways in which we can collaborate to achieve many different goals across our city!
The public is entitled to see his criminal history to decide whether the juvenile system did its job, or whether he was "on holiday break." The veil of secrecy over violent juveniles should be lifted NOW before more lives are lost.
"The nature of those warrants wasn't clear. Juvenile records are sealed."
Remember when we pushed legislation last session to lift this nonsensical vail after one picks up a second felony? Remember NOLA's hard left raging against it? Well here we are. Open it up.

Keep trying to distract from the fact that the people wreaking havoc in the city neither have training nor permits and do not fear misdemeanor illegal carrying of weapons charges.
Fear this mythical group of bad guys who have stayed peaceful...until they no longer need a CCP.
Happy Fourth of July in Louisiana-Stay safe and be careful in the roads, in restaurants and public spaces! You need to be careful not to aggravate people- you never know who is armed and ready to lose their temper. What could possibly go wrong? No training required! Be careful!
Well that sure is interesting! Explains a lot about why we were getting fed those ridiculous legal theories yesterday.

3--A total of 141, or 69%, were arrested for offenses not listed as violent crimes in Louisiana law. Nearly 9 out of 10 17-yr-olds arrested in East Baton Rouge and Orleans are Black.
An hour ago, New Orleans had a school bus hit by a car and the occupants jumped out with ski masks and guns. "Clean" school buses are way down our list of priorities.
@helenprejean
Prosecutors don't have authority to "reach a plea agreement" without evidence to support post conviction relief on a case fully adjudicated. That's called "clemency" and is reserved for the executive branch. They had the evidentiary hearing, they did not produce evidence.
Illegal immigrant shooting at the feds and causing a day long standoff. Just one more in the long list of major offenses committed by illegals in NOLA in just the past few months.
Cue the "citizens commit crimes at a much higher..." crew.

Have yours received something like this in the mail lately? If so, you may be pre-encountering in of the TOP LOUISIANA VOTER SUPPRESSION LAWS of 2024–HB 114/Act 2.
The headline should be "Violent Crime is Way Down BECAUSE the Jail is Packed." Many of us publicly said exactly what would happen when they began releasing inmates in 2019 "because there are so many per capita." This is not hard.
@missy_wilkinson
Watching St. George has been inspirational. I can't imagine paying a tax for a police and fire department which doesn't respond in my area. Glad to see they've forced Baton Rouge to have to support itself!

, the ADAs, the jury, and the judges did their jobs. This week, 10 days after a frivolous post conviction relief app was filed, the "Civil Rights Division" agreed to reduce their sentences for no reason.(1/2)
The "murder is down 20%" crew is puckering up after the past two weeks. 20 headed to 10 fast and the retaliation hits will follow.
When you brag on a homicide decline which occurred because 5 serial killers were murdered, you really don't get how this works.

This should be the standard, not a newsworthy exception, for the next several years. The amount of blighted trash which hasn't been touched since Katrina is ridiculous. Your time to "figure it out" is over. Raze it, seize, and sell to a person who wants to use it.

Folks in New Orleans better get their vehicles in full working order. Tail lights, license plate light, brake tags, headlights, etc. Landry is about to send down beaucoup State Troopers and they will have a field day pulling people over. Who knows how it will escalate from there.
The 11 listed as being from New Orleans have been booked on a combined 144 different adult charges (can't see juvenile) only in Orleans Parish. The idea that we need to release on low bond for school, job, family, church, etc. is crazy. No more.
@FixNOLA
In 2024, Jefferson Parish had 5 inmates resentenced. St. Tammany had 1. East Baton Rouge had 1. New Orleans had 42, and all in secret with no press releases for "righting wrongs."

This case should dismantle all credibility of the Innocence Project. This person murdered the victim. The evidence is overwhelming, he was caught with a mountain of evidence taken from her home. Discredit what
@innocence
ever spins. They want to release killers.
The Innocence Project et. al. could have chosen the posture of a neutral observer, carefully checking the legal system's work. But instead they've chosen to be just more defense counsel, totally willing to cynically argue in bad faith for their client.

More New Orleans city government dysfunction: Police stations and other city buildings lack air conditioning, needed maintenance because vendors are declining to work for an administration slow to pay its bills

It is made up. They did not secede from anything. This was an unincorporated area, which Baton Rouge could have incorporated but did not, which chose to incorporate.
Can you explain why people who do not live in a city or benefit from its services (police, fire) fund it?
@eastmainst6263
@FixNOLA
These are facts. We're talking about 200-300 people who need to be removed from the streets and crime would decline by 75%. The police know who they are. They arrest these individuals. Then they encounter them the next day, or sometimes on the same shift.
It's important to understand this in the context of our elected officials claiming the jail has "non-violent offenders" in it and they should be released. Burglary is not a crime of violence. These are the people they want freed over and over. Don't fall for this BS anymore.
4/29: USBP agents in New Orleans, LA conducted a vehicle stop & arrested an MS-13 gang member, Lorenzo Alexander Benitez, from El Salvador. He will be prosecuted for felony re-entry after being previously removed from the US

Why are people asking for private helicopters instead of having dozens of US Chinooks arriving with tons of supplies and bringing people out if needed?
Does anyone have a plane/helicopter that they would be willing to help my wife and I get home in? We are trapped in Black Mountain (no food or water) and we have a medically complex handicap son who requires around the clock care, medications, and a ventilator. Please help.
