I got the Que for PT MH3 in Naples. I am so overjoyed and grateful to be back on the tour. Thanks for Stephen for capturing this photo of the final round of the RC. We got deck checked and were the last to finish with PT invite on the line. Value tag @dicecitygamesdc

I had the privilege of winning an RC invite for Naples this weekend at RC Gent! I played fair breach. I also went 6-3 in the LCQ on Friday to not quite top 16. I like this build/deck a lot and would be happy to talk about it if people are interested.

I had the privilege of making top 8 of yesterday’s modern showcase challenge playing breach. I was thinking about doing a write up on it; I feel like I understand what breach is missing but haven’t found the cards to fill those holes, would be good to put the problem into words.

@Xenowan Offer allows you to counter your own baubles to make mana when going off with breach. It also doubles as an additional spell pierce effect which punishes the opponent for trying to play around actual spell pierce.

@ArchaeusDota Ultimately, I think this somewhat depends on what you consider “skill.” In my opinion the biggest component of skill by far is deck building and selection, accordingly the answer to your question is whichever format is the most solved and hardest to solve. Modern is the answer.

@MisplayMental I bought 4 because something about it looked broken to me. It’s a 3 mana 3/2 with unblockable, ward 2, that creates a mastery of the unseen on etb that also sometimes has kicker transform into a different creature. That’s just a lot of text.

@PVDDR Grixis death shadow from around the time the deck was first popularized. Bauble, seize, counters, and DS himself all require a certain amount of finesse and expertise to play, and DS had all of them. KCI is hard, but it’s more a matter of learning interactions then finesse.

@LordMassapo @fireshoes Do I count? If so, writing a sideboard guide is more useful then following one. However if you’re zero reps into a matchup or deck, then an sb guide is a good jumpstart into getting the hang of it. Either way, for best results think critically about the why behind a change.

@rcsaxe The mardu shard contains the three best decks (RB, RW and WB in that order). The drop of on power level between these and the next best is substantial. The combat tricks are worth playing, but you will get some without trying, what you need to fight for is the very mid 2 drops

@Recezzz @SanPop_mtgo @Xenowan Thoughtscour is a more mana but less card in GY intensive breach outlet, You can use bauble and scour to control your opponents top deck, and you can also use it as an alt win con in the mirror where going down to less then 10 cards in library is super common in close games.

@garedbryne @Aspiringspike @GrabuskyMichael Remand is probably worse than counterspell. It has higher highs (most notably vs cascade) and lower lows (such as against burn). But I decided that Jegantha was good enough to be worth the downgrade. Either that or I’m just coping.

@faibomf @fireshoes @Aspiringspike @GrabuskyMichael Every time I’ve played against scam its felt hilariously not close. The scam player either dabs on me or falls flat on his face. I think your suggestions are good, but the problem with that kind of SB tech is that you want them in your opening hand and scam punishes mulligans.

@fffreakmtg @masoneclark I would say that the value of the turn 2 thoughtseize argument has decreased as the game has become more and more mana centric. This is less true in formats where card advantaged can be turned back into mana (like legacy which has access to force effects and evoke elementals)

@passoldani Cast should come in v scales, that was a typo. The must counters in rhinos are usually endurance and footfalls, countering the rest is much lower priority. Hearse doesn’t really stop cauldron as they can use it end step, and then again after untap. Stopping undying is useful-

@rabbitzMTG @fireshoes @NickyBiekz @EdgarMTG Yeah you basically nailed it. Turn 2 blood moon off of raptor or ragavan is super unfair in a lot of board states. It also flips the control matchups to actively good. Jeskai’s mana is actively very bad right now, kind of has to be to beat nadu.

@Recezzz @SanPop_mtgo @Xenowan A lot of the time consider is just worse thoughtscour. The deck transforms cards in the graveyard to resources so trivially that consider just auto bins a lot. That being said you want to be able to keep one land hands, and consider does that better then scour. More below

@Recezzz @SanPop_mtgo @Xenowan Because DRC and EI allow you to look at a huge portion of your deck every game, and breach allows you to reuse the same spell over and over, you get a lot of value from playing 1 off effects. There are a few tricks you can do with scour, I’ve listed some below.

@AlbertoCorti15 The blood moons are better, you effectively have more life, and the remands/heats are less clunky then teferi’s and endings. The disadvantages are: you have more spells that you have to counter because your removal is more narrow, you have more instants which is bad for delirium

@SanPop_mtgo @Aspiringspike @GrabuskyMichael It’s a fair question. I just didn’t want to play teferi. The card is good, but the deck already has strong sorcery speed plays, what it needed in my view was more interaction. Once teferi’s gone you’re only really splashing for the endings, which didn’t seem worth.

@OlleRade @kanister_mtg Fable tokens and ragavan make excess creatures, phelia likes giving big creatures vigilance. It’s a mana outlet when your opponent represents wrath of the skies.
