First we collected a high-quality fMRI dataset (** hours per subject), localized the FFA, PPA and EBA, and built CNN-based encoding models to predict the mean response of each region to each image. How accurate are these predictions? Pretty damn good! 4/11

5/ To summarize, the overwhelming frontal/parietal activations in previous studies are likely an artifact of active subjective reporting. This study is constructive in the sense that is also paves the path for future work using more sensitive multivariate methods.

I got hit by a nasty virus so couldn't make it to New Orleans to present at SVRHM. I decided to do a recording and edit out the coughing. I've rarely done a presentation where I was running on fumes to this degree so I hope it's reasonably coherent

@katestorrs Another idea could be sparsity index a la Vinje and Gallant (2000), but with responses averaged over categories. It’s nicely bounded etc.
