First Xmas/New Year without my wife of 43 years is harder to handle than I thought. I’m with one of my daughters and there will be 13 for lunch tomorrow but I will be the only adult without a partner,so I will concentrate on positives as much as I can. Merry Christmas everyone.
Grant, Speers, Sales, Norman, Jennett, Millar - The ABC has a powerful team working to ensure a return of the Morrison Govt. Is it just their conservative bias or are there rewards for doing so, apart from keeping their well paid jobs?
Clearly unprepared, One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts couldn’t make any gains with his own line of questioning, so fell back on Rennick’s conspiracy theory.
Burgess not having any of it.
#Estimates
@Bianca_Stone
Maybe ask your question in a way that will get an answer? Starting off with words like “political stunt” might impress your colleagues at your TV station, make you a legend in your own lunch break, and look good for a headline but really just shows your lack of judgment.
Expect to see a lot on Jacinta Price on commercial TV networks and The Drum, Afternoon Briefing, QandA and Sky TV. She will be a favourite of the naysayers.
Was it just me mishearing, or did I hear a pilot say a plane flew off with previous flights luggage and left behind existing pax luggage to keep to a timetable? Surely not.
#4Corners
@RonniSalt
Very senior and experienced journalists at all media, including The Guardian and the ABC ran Morrison’s line. Would have preferred Murphy coming out on day 1 of the beat up calling Morrison out. Might have saved what’s left of MSM reputation for integrity.
@ABCNews
again editorialising on behalf of the Liberal Party.
"Instead of badgering the Coalition, which he often does, today” Albanese “seemed deflated that he wouldn’t have a fight on his hands”. This is what you normally see on Sky News, but the ABC? It’s unacceptable.
#AUSPOL
12 months yesterday since my wonderful wife of 43 years died. On Saturday she arrived at her final resting place and her not being with me, even in her ashes canister, has left me with a greater headache than I was expecting. 💔💔
Massola doing his bit to “circle the wagons” for a journalist who asked a stupid “gotcha” question and rudely wouldn’t shut up to hear the answer. So many journalists prove their critics right.
@deniseshrivell
And the Board, Senior Management & perhaps quite a few Producers, don't care one iota about our feedback. If they did, they wouldn't keep producing the same bias, inviting the Murdoch guests to appear, when those people attack the ABC and work to have it gone.
@TracyWesterman
Dr Tracey, why do you think she would say such a thing when it’s clearly not true? Surely she would know that her statement would be condemned?
@PatsKarvelas
That's why, on your next show, you will be reporting the bullying by Hollie Hughes and Nicole Flint on Twitter, against their former colleague Julia Banks?
@BronwynHill1
When you worked there Bronwyn, did the senior management take note of feedback and take action if appropriate? Feedback must be coming thick and fast at the moment but the things that set ppl off still continue
@deemadigan
Just like Services Australia with Robodebt. Putting all the onus on the affected citizen to fix things, instead of the department/agency fixing the f*ckup . Extraordinary and embarrassing!!
@nick_coatsworth
Just like during COVID lockdowns, you cherry-pick events to suit your own ideology and agenda but always fail to see the truth. Ppl like you, who have a profile on SM and get selected/promoted by media who support your agenda, are a real danger to this country achieving harmony.
@DaveyDogs
They watch 7 & 9, read the Tele and H/Sun, listen to 2GB and watch Sky in the regions, read Murdoch trash and stay disinterested in the actual policy vacuum & prefer the PR display. If thats insulting to those ppl then so be it, it’s meant to be. We have lots of education to do.
@DrMichelleBrady
Interesting that even though they are wrong they may ask you to lodge an appeal which is clearly work you should not be forced to do. Their mistake so they should do all the work to fix
@farrm51
So many journalists calling it a deal: Karvelas, van Onselen, ABC newsreaders. The facts have been known for quite a few hours but no change to wording. There IS a difference between a Letter of Intent and a deal. Is it too much to ask our media to give us facts and truth?
I recently finished Walking Towards Thunder by
@Peter_Fox59
and I was astounded at how some Church and Police and Legal persons covered up / lied / failed to act on cases of child sexual abuse, usually to protect the reputation of an Institution or themselves and how members 1/5
@ShiannonC
Just looked at Could not see those ships Morrison is banging on about. Have a look folks you can hover over each icon and see who it is and destination.
@sallymcmanus
@1RossGittins
A problem years in the making Sally that we could all see coming ( except the LNP who didn’t care) and will take years to fix. TAFE training must be a priority, by building more of them for a start.
@TomBurkeDarwin
Small stuff but - Ban the export of military parts to Israel. Ban visas for any travel to/from Israel. Ban any politician traveling to Israel. Support SA case to the ICJ
@MikeCarlton01
Spoke to my sister in NZ on Monday. Her best mate runs a pub in country town which has closed. Several staff out of work, applied for business assistance relief Sunday morning ....... and got $37000 this afternoon (Monday) to cover staff wages and other stuff. Just over 24hours!
Travelling in NZ. Scenery a bit different than for some in NSW & QLD. 😪 Over here its green grass, clouds and ...wind farms?! This one working since 2004 with 55 turbines powering 39000 homes.

@Peter_Fox59
@cheryl_kernot
@crikey_news
My beef, away from Covid19 matters, is journalists who don't push back when MP's rattle off lies relating to climate change & emission reductions etc. They need to do some study before interviewing the likes of Angus Taylor & Matt Canavan, plus Susan Ley on environment matters.
@RonniSalt
Sad to say, but thank goodness we have Twitter to provide the challenge. Albanese needs to ramp up big time. If he does he will get support from some in the media and Twitter & hopefully people will start to listen. There is plenty to go at Morrison about that is based on facts.
@iMusing
What annoys me is that of all the articles from hundreds of journalists, it 'just' happens to be from Greg Sheridan (Insiders panelist) and it also 'just' happens to be about Dan Andrews. Don't patronise us with "open to consuming and considering other perspectives" Morris.
@Peter_Fox59
What I really get angry about is the Station Executives, the Producers and Reporters are never held accountable. They will lap up the controversy as a badge of honour and turn up next week with some new crap and we all move on. The shareholders only care about profits/dividends.
🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️Did you conduct exit polls to establish this
@AEC
?? Just covering up your own incompetence?|Josh Frydenberg and Gladys Liu election challenges should be thrown out, AEC says
#auspol
@samanthamaiden
Reminds me of this: Julie Bishop has claimed $32,000 in taxpayer-funded family travel for her long-term boyfriend but says she is not obliged to disclose his financial interests on the parliamentary register because he is not her "spouse" or de facto partner.
@vogrady2132
Speers at the ABC is one of Murdoch’s greatest achievements. Everyone thought he was a good ethical journalists to replace Barry on Insiders but it was just that we were comparing him to his Sky After Dark colleagues. Whiteanting ABC independence one article at a time.
@barriecassidy
Its an absolute insult for Morrison to assert that only the military could manage a vaccine rollout. There would be many people with experience in private industry and in State and Federal departments who could do it. The Public Service and Industry need to push back on this.
@MrDTJames
I feel sorry for the many wonderful journalists that used to work for the ABC who helped to build up such a great reputation, to see it now being trashed with lazy journalism on a regular basis. Using the IPA as a source is just wrong.
@strangerous10
I would love to hear from an Insiders producer what they were wanting to achieve from having her as a guest. I know we never will, but it doesn’t stop me wishing we could.
My thread in response to good question from
@TaodeHaas
as to what can we do to educate and inform the electorate better given many are trying hard already. We have to better support the unbiased sections of media both financially and in retweeting and reposting their msgs, 1/7
Between this thread and what Daniel Bleakley
@DanielBleakley
put together, we surely have enough to sink this mob. Just need to educate our family and friends (and get them to do the same to their family and friends) to think before voting. Rise up Twitter, we can do this!!
@mad6duck
In a crowded field of choice, Glenn, I think this is your best yet. Your words cut thru exactly as protest song should. Dylan would be proud of you.
@wendycollins62
To actually push that point (standing versus sitting) while others have leave cancelled even at Xmas time, like hospital staff and no doubt many others and those who are mourning the death of family. Hard to defend her with that narrative on display
@SimonBarnhill
Perhaps the new News 24 Director Justin Stevens can remind people like Jennett of his role at the national broadcaster. Making comments like "piddling announcements" is not acceptable
@sallyrugg
Your tweets confirm for me the frustration I have that ppl like Ash totally fail to understand that the pain /hurt /sadness they cause to LGBTQ is not something that can just be brushed off & move on to next activity. They look at you as if to say “what’s your problem, move on”
@RonniSalt
Lots of frustration and anger for me Ronni, but 4 weeks ago I got this antidote to all that … first grandchild named Carter. Everything else goes away when I am with him. 🥰
@nick_coatsworth
Are you doing this as a prominent private citizen or are you representing a Government body / Hospital or a lobbyist for a commercial company?
@RonniSalt
There is something odd going on Ronni. Biosecurity is absolutely in the Agriculture Dept under David Littleproud. There are arrangements with State Health re potential/actual disease and sickness response. Where is Littleproud, why isn’t he being chased re biosecurity issues?
@RonniSalt
This pandemic sure has shredded plenty of peoples reputations. I reckon the general public are now in a very powerful position to decide if we want these arseholes to survive in their business, or have an audience at a show or get re-elected. Twitter users have good memories.
@no_filter_Yamba
If Israel thinks these two FW’s are going to help their cause in getting support in GB and Australia for their genocidal behaviour in Palestine, they should rethink that strategy. While the media will lap it up, the public won’t.
@Aaron_Dodd2
@Raf_Epstein
I reckon when journalists BECOME the news then that is a problem the journalists have to fix themselves. I would prefer not to be talking about them other than to acknowledge them as the author of a good, well written and informative story.
@StiofanDonnelly
Oct 10, Editor Gay Alcorn:
For this election, The Age is shifting its approach to focus on what Victorians want to discuss – what matters most to you – rather than what the political parties and candidates want the election to be about.
Some shift!
@ShiannonC
The inner strength you show to even stay on here is remarkable, Shiannon. Me, I would have been banned a long time back for what I would say to the grubs!!
@davidbewart
No one responding to this has mentioned the current LNP NDIS Minister - whoever that is. People immediately think of
@billshortenmp
as the right person to contact now. That demonstrates a huge problem with the LNP and NDIS.
@AlboMP
@jeff_kennett
If your not careful Jeff, the hole your digging for yourself might just turn out to be your final resting place. Don't go catching any viruses cos they don't discriminate against failed Premiers and idiots.
@JoshButler
I can just imagine the squeals of delight Morrisons dirt file group would have made when they saw those initial media articles come out about the bullying. If ever there is a group of people to take advantage of someone else's tragedy it would be his mob. He is relishing this.
@RonniSalt
I never stop thinking how Linda Reynolds was a Brigadier, and Kathryn Campbell was a Major General, in the Aust Army Reserve. I hope they didn’t develop their terrible moral compasses through their roles the ADF.
@JaneCaro
And the cynical me says the majority of MSM will report his winning net-zero rhetoric and voters will go “oh that’s good, he’s the leader we want” and the same MSM will forget there is no plan, no substance behind the rhetoric. Instead it will be “well, what’s Labor doing”.
@bentbananabooks
One has to wonder what happened with Henderson when she was at the ABC. She seems bitter and vengeful and I hate the thought she is in Parliament, supposedly to help make Australia a better place!
@RonniSalt
Not sure if was bc of my ignorance (now fixed) but in the last 12 mths or so I have really noticed the “disconnect” btwn the headline and the content of an article, which is why your on the money with your comments Ronni. With paywalls on articles many stop at the headline.
@NickBryantNY
Genuine question Nick. Do you think these journalists actually care about the negative feedback they are getting, given they must be supported by their employer in what they are doing, bc it is happening every day with the Albanese media pack?
@vogrady2132
@abcnews
It's gone past being embarrassing and shows there is something seriously wrong at the ABC. I would lose no sleep if the News24 channel shut down.
@RonniSalt
I chuckled to myself Ronni when I realised that whenever I see Morrison govt making announcements that involves commercial companies or notable people, I invariably end up on Twitter to see what You and Jommy Tee have been able to background for us. I love your insights. Thanks
@ShiannonC
There are some very angry, aggressive supporters of Luxon and his Coalition on Twitter and FB. Speaking to my sister in NZ, it appears many of my relatives agree with Luxon. I won’t be visiting any of them when I take my wife’s ashes back in February. FMD 😢
@rpcounat
@MFWitches
Only if the contempt and disgust is seen in the Murdoch and 9-Fairfax media & even ABC. If its stays on Twitter & in some of the media only, it can sadly be brushed away. We have a great deal of educating to do! I am working on my family for a start (but its bloody hard at times)
If anyone asks for just one reason to be on Twitter, tell then it’s Vince and his team. There are many reasons to be on Twitter, but what we learn from Vince fills in the gaps the main media organisations fail to cover. Thank you Vince and your team.
Breaking broken news. toady is the day Folks. the National integrity Commission bill will be introduced to the parliament today. As promised have done a summary of the Coalition grants program to set the scene as to why we need an integrity commission.
@MayneReport
Maybe bc so few journalists are trusted to report the truth, instead pushing an agenda that meets the editors needs. There has been so much rubbish reported (Andrew back injury as an example), ppl don’t have faith in media any more. That’s sad for the journalists with integrity.
@simonahac
Sadly, his broken party just go along with him knowing his large base of conservative voters don’t care about the Pacific, except for a holiday. The Island nation leaders won’t call him out publicly as they need Aust support. Wake up apathetic voters, NOW.
@sophieelsworth
BREAKING NEWS: Sophie Elsworth resigns as finance reporter to take up the role as Victorian Chief Health Officer. The interviewing panel were impressed with her knowledge of how to deal with a pandemic.
@RonniSalt
Superb, tense build up to the eventual climax to this story Ronni, especially as I was in Customs / BF for 27 years including 8 years in the NW of WA where "black flights" were always in the talk. 😀
@senbmckenzie
@DanielAndrewsMP
Senator, You could have tweeted on the importance of following the rules but given you don't know what rules are (or make up your own anyway) you have no legitimacy in this issue. Grubby behaviour from a corrupt politician.
@BelindaJones68
I saw the action by the LNP re gay marriage as a divisive and delaying tactic that caused unnecessary pain and hurt to a particular group of people. To praise / claim the credit for the “Right” for making marriage legal for them is just wrong and reflects poorly on the author.
@DanielBleakley
@Tesla
The mechanics from Gosford who had to endure Cash and Morrison in that infamous video of them claiming Labor are stealing the weekend.
@vogrady2132
What worries me is what are they are teaching them, to produce the rat pack following Albanese? Maybe none of them are Uni grads, which would calm me a little.
