@DonWindlesham @PloughLaneByNum @lukeyboymac If I had to pick one now he would be my player of the season. As you say always solid, also been in and out of the team at times (unfairly imo) and doesn't miss a step when put back in

@wmricketts @14thefrog Yeah it’s still baffling to me. Penalty and yellow more than enough. There’s a lot of laws refs don’t seem to use (booking players surrounding them for example) so can be surprising when they do implement one to the letter maybe?

@AaronLewis33 @FearnRussell @jay_cafc Defintiely. A few red cards might be the only thing that actually stops it at corners (seems to be something that has got much worse recently). The Crewe player here was likely just unlucky that the ref was just focussing on this tussle (still really harsh though imo)

@AaronLewis33 @FearnRussell @jay_cafc doesn't have to be a clear goal scoring opportunity per current laws to warrant a red card. Not saying I agree with it (thought it was more than harsh on Crewe) but this is the law the ref was following

@StandingAlone77 @ETB89 @booncafc can't disagree with this. The pushing/shoving at corners needs to be addressed somehow

@ETB89 @booncafc @StandingAlone77 Not any more. Just needs to be a foul for holding, pushing or pulling, position of the ball is irrelevant (harsh as I thought a penalty and red was last night)

@ash_c88 @clh19961996 But this is the frame when the ball is played and he is clearly inside by this point?

@colclough_dan Where the ball is in relation to the foul is irrelevant according to the law. Extremely harsh imo (though definitely a pen from my view right in line with it) and pretty much ended the game as a contest.

@StandingAlone77 Whether it’s a clear goalscoring opportunity is irrelevant to the law as it stands. If the ref thinks it’s a deliberate foul inside the area then the law states red card (I think penalty and yellow is more than sufficient in this case).

@tom0557043816 Extremely harsh and stopped the game as a contest but ref would probably argue he had no choice due to what the pen was given for?

@1985Pete @yellowandblue88 That’s the catch 22 situation. You pretty much ruin any match when this is enforced (talking more from at corners) but how do you stop all the holding and pushing/pulling?

@nickeread @9yrspodcast @bestformofwit Definitely harsh in this case. Something has to be done about holding at corners. Only thing I can come up with is players must have arms by there side unless jumping, but with 7 or 8 instances happening at once refs have no chance

@yellowandblue88 @1985Pete New law: doesn’t have to be a clear goalscoring chance. A pen and a yellow is more than sufficient imo but this law is what the ref has followed. Feel for the Crewe fans who turned up in good numbers.

@nickeread @9yrspodcast @bestformofwit So this is where it comes down to refs judgement. The Crewe player had hold of Omar and turns away from the ball so he must have deemed him to not be looking to play the ball?

@KentWomble @OsmanFoyo10 @AFCWimbledon Would have liked to have seen him given more time. Game was over early on so last night was perfect for that. Get him on and let Omar have a decent breather.

@ETB89 @RichardHoiles @RailwaymenThe @FearnRussell I was in line with it and thought definite pen. Red card, extremely harsh and effectively killed the game. Double jeopardy no longer exists - you can get sent off and a penalty based on this law (which is harsh imo)
