The Tizzards have shown such dignity through adversity so to see Native River attack those Railway Fences and gallop to the line was fantastic. What a tough campaigner he is.
Felt like NH racing was at a bit of a crossroads going into Cheltenham but come away thinking the 4 days were a turn in the right direction. Long way to go but some fantastic memories and a reminder of the brilliance of live sport.
Wishing everyone an enjoyable Grand National day. No need to be defensive but instead to showcase all our sport has to offer. The race can spark an interest which can last a lifetime .
Sport at its absolute best. Passion , emotion , companionship, great humility and eloquence. Frodon and Frost the defining moment of the 2019 Festival.
After his winner
@kemptonparkrace
last night
@liamkeniry
is on 999 UK career wins. Having been stranded on 998 for six months through serious injury his career has spanned nearly 13,000 rides and it will be an amazing landmark that deserves widespread recognition. Please RT
Hope everyone enjoyed Cheltenham . Some great performances and memories, highs and some sad lows. Especially well done to those winning for the first time in front of crowds and getting the reception their efforts deserved.
A mighty popular win for Adam Kirby on Adayar in the Derby. Got the big horse up the inside and never looked back. All that time fighting the scales for this day. Weighing room reaction says it all.
A lot of good stories from Royal Ascot this year. Dettori’s 4 timer, Blue Point doubling up , Danny Tudhope and Hayley Turner. Massive thanks to all those involved behind the scenes
@itvracing
and those providing the vast array of shots we have at our disposal in all weathers.
As a naturally scruffy oik one of the hardest things about this presenting lark is looking smart, so many thanks to IJF supporters
@brooktaverner
for taking on the challenge.
Most heard phrase today ‘
@WarwickRaces
‘so good to see you again’. Between people in crowd , to tote staff, even to bookies ! A reminder of the massive social aspect of a shared love of sport .
When recruiting for a new assistant it pays to go straight to the top. Trying to prise
@kian_burley
away from
@FOBRacing
. No cardigans could be the clincher.
One of the dreaded jobs for us trainee accountants at my first firm used to be counting the massive paper pile of BAFTA votes. Never thought it would lead to this. Great to share the experience with such talented friends especially those behind the camera
@itvracing
We spend a lot of time debating what is wrong with our sport so let’s make sure we celebrate when things go right. Champ and Paisley Park. What a race.
Bit late in the evening but will be on Andrew Castle show on
@LBC
just after 8 o’clock in the morning to discuss events at todays Grand National if anyone is up early.
@StandUp4Racing
Try to remain largely impartial but my heart smiled a little when realising it was Paul Hanagan on Majestic Dawn yesterday. Been such a long road back and now just 12 short of 2000 UK winners. Emotion afterwards said it all.
Amazing performance from Tiger Roll in the National. Loved the Davy Russell quote that the horse ‘has something of the Forrest Gump about him - he loves to run’. A privilege today to watch him.
#runtigerrun
Definitely different, sometimes scary. 21 races , 2 Classics and 6 Scotch Eggs. Massive thanks to those behind the camera
@itvracing
and NEP. Another Classic next Friday evening. Great to be shouting at horses again.
A great way to round off my Royal Ascot 2020 with a success for
@HollieDoyle1
without doubt one of the rising stars of the weighing room. Will very much enjoy being a viewer tomorrow !
John McCririck’s on screen antics belied meticulous preparation and a great understanding of what the reader and viewer wanted. Brought the betting ring to life and for a generation was the face that meant horse racing. Condolences to Jenny and his many friends.
Home schooling topic is fractions. Pick pairs of fractions and show which one is bigger.
So far we have done 2/1 and 5/2, 11/4 and 3/1, 6/4 and 13/8, just toying with 4/5 and 10/11.
So delighted to have called him winning a really big pot. Ropey Guest aka Chubby wins the big handicap
@yorkracecourse
. Well done to the Margarson family.
Superb to see such a fine big horse stretching out head bowed to complete a double that remains the 3yo holy grail. Congratulations to connections of Adayar.
One of the great attributes of National Hunt racing is how the Champions stay in the arena for longer and gain such great followings. Altior and Tiger Roll two class acts with hopefully many more encores ahead .
Brilliant climax to a super afternoon of jumping. Matt Griffiths and David Bass with complete belief in their mounts and finally that long wait for another Grade 1 race for Kim Bailey in the colours of one of his longest supporters. Add in Roksana and Royale Pagaille, some day.
So delighted for Roger Teal and the yard . That is a great repayment of faith always shown in the horse and the owners nerve in rejecting big money offers. Super story and result.
So good to know meetings like this still exist. Game of football in the back straight , and now a band is playing Teenage Kicks. Up close to the action is what hooks and freedom to roam for families.
Ground staff can be forgotten on days like this. Team
@Ascot
moved 2 hurdles to outside line and putting up new running rail down and round Swinley to utilise ground not on racing line yesterday. Reckon that is at least five furlongs of rail to move.
My whole life has involved watching or listening to Bernard Cribbins make scenes or stories come to life. Amazingly versatile and seemed to immerse himself in his characters. RIP Bernard and thank you.
Now watched 1000 Guineas three times can see no obvious way that is a fluke by Billesdon Brook. Fairytale success that is becoming increasingly rare at the highest level.
@NorthRacingClub
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg
The animal lovers are already there . In the stands , leading the horses up , owning, training and trusting them enough to partner them at 35mph round the unique test of Epsom.
It is cold and crowd been huddled away all day
@NewburyRacing
yet the place came alive up the run in for that. Credit to Dashel Drasher and Paisley Park. NH racing at its best .
Deserving of a greater reception than she was able to receive Enable bows out of the domestic racing scene with an exercise canter in the September Stakes
@kemptonparkrace
1000 at the weekend for Richard Hannon Jr and Aidan Coleman and now Danny Tudhope. Racing really misses a trick in not highlighting and promoting such approaching milestones and the tremendous achievements they represent.
@RacingTV
One of the best days of my racing life was to do evening stables at Heath House with Sir Mark. Delighted to have had the chance to call an Arc winner for him on
@itvracing
. Usually quite impartial but was willing her home. Well done to all at the yard.
