i remember vividly being posted in ED resus during wave 2, in one of the worst hit hospitals, hearing fireworks at midnight 🎆 every patient in the bay was on high flow o2, & they smiled “a happy new year” at each other. by 8am handover, they had all passed. 😕
#BREATHTAKING
Not me sitting on a beach finding out i got my TOP CHOICE for ST4 Acute Medicine ranking SECOND in the country!! Just took six failed PACES attempts, a MH crisis, and a five year career break to get here 😅 Thanks to mentors past/present. SOUF LONDON I’M COMIN FOR YA 🎉 🥳 👨🏽⚕️
“What kind of Doctor are you?”
“Acute medic”
“So you’re a GP?”
“Nah, hospital based, a generalist. I’ll treat you if you get admitted”
“So you work in A&E?”
“Not really. Sometimes we see patients there. Think of us as the GPs of the whole hospital”
“So you’re a GP?”
My top priority throughout ongoing strikes is patient safety.
That's why we're now seeking views on expanding minimum service levels to hospital-based health services to ensure that vital care can continue through days of strike action.

ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED i passed my AIM SCE exam today!! After a horrific few years of MRCP exams leading to a MH crisis & time away from the NHS, i can happily say that i will NEVER EVER do a medical exam again 🙏🏽 🥳 🎉 🙏🏽

@OVOEnergy
, whilst chaos ensues due to a power failure. Parody is no longer relevant in this country 😅
i wasn’t “allowed” to be a reg for five years post CMT as i hadn’t passed PACES. that’s almost a decade after med school & £1000s in post grad exams. shoulda gone to PA school 🤷🏽♂️
“A PA would not typically go on the tier two rota for about three years.”
🤯🤦🏻♂️
They should never be on the tier two rota whatsoever.
Who carries the risk when a Dr calls this team for advice, the PA issues it and the proverbial hits the fan I wonder?!🤔
NHS irony 101
9am: publicly told off for wearing a watch
8pm - 9am: spent entire night shift roaming the ward with dirty hands looking for a sink, as no handwash in toilets
🙌🏽
Looking forward to joining team
@uclh
in a few weeks and finally being called a ‘training’ medical registrar at the ripe old age of 34. Let’s hope my recent career detours haven’t made me too rusty🤞🏽
What I’m good at:
- hyponatremia after endo rv
- pneumonia when not intubated
- sepsis of known source
- heart failure
What my family asks me about:
- when are you getting married?
- when are you getting married?
- when are you getting married?
- when are you getting married?
What I’m good at:
- hyponatremia

- sepsis
- heart failure
What my family asks me about:
- ear itch
- boob pain
- random rashes
- “am I farting too much?”
@NHS_HealthEdEng
so many to chose from! how about when i wasn’t able to progress into SpR training cos i failed an exam (twice) by ONE mark, leading to MH breakdown screwing up my life, w/ memories of being grilled by “senior” clinicians on whether i was competent to treat ‘cough’ & ‘weight loss’
@Dr_BellaR
most of my ST4 points came from time out of training / locuming / earnings from private sector. the irony of me scoring 2nd highest in the country becos i basically quit front line NHS for a while is not lost on me 🤷🏽♂️
Proud to announce my first film is out! A different take on the NHS turning 70

@hannahmillana
gosh that sounds awful and reminds me of many similar scenarios. the things we do in this job. if only all junior doctors were looked after as well as echo machines 😳
What a nice six months of Acute Med

& co. Great team, fabulous rota, and super well supported throughout. ST4 AIM i’m coming for ya 👌🏽
@LewyHughey
yep i got slapped with a £800+ portfolio bill last month (ST4 AIM) which i had to chuck on my credit card & is currently generating interest - great news as i’m about to begin a mortgage. we shouldn’t have to pay for mandatory (substandard) job related costs, full stop 🤷🏽♂️
THAT’S A WRAP ON MY FIRST FEATURE FILM!! Five years since i was just a disillusioned

🎉 Here’s to shaking up the industry with true grassroots projects we need more of ✌🏽😎
After 15 yrs of renting / flat sharing / couch surfing / student halls (in my 30s) / terrible landlords / awful neighbours - i’ve finally slept in MY OWN PLACE. The -ve impact on my biopsychosocial health has been immense. Time now to heal & dance around naked 👌🏽🎉🔑
@mjv__1
it’s so different to even just 5 yrs ago! if u have any interest in gen med would highly advocate IMT->AIM route as post CCT options are fab. i did various fellowships pre SpR - teaching/leadership ones are usually good. private sector has options too. best of luck with it all 🤞🏽

there’s probs a multi-faceted, culturally open, innovative solution required here but i secretly woulda dialled 2222 with “peri arrest in the break room”
@DrRayBakes
oh i really wish some consultants would just grow up
personally i think we need to treat these incidents like sepsis - look for the early signs and treat aggressively before things get worse.

it’s been such a difficult, crazy, wonderful, and eye-opening experience and i’m excited for what’s ahead. but i’m also grateful for each day that i’m alive, doing my best to be present in the moment. now is the time to talk
