@ZackGianino @paulkruegersd @DOGE It is not possible for the city to cut its way to pay for these expenditures. The math simply doesn't math. The city does need to make reasonable cuts to show the public they are being responsible but additional revenue is objectively needed.

The wellbeing of the veterans who serve our country is definitely a federal issue. It seems like people are conflating the average housing insecure residents and programs meant to support with veterans who have been housed and are on the path to getting back on their feet but are now having the rug pulled out from under them.

@Guz78 @RepScottPeters These are veterans that have been housed, this act could make them homeless again. The money and programs you are talking about are separate and distinct. HUD-VASH is a proven program that significantly reduced veteran homelessness before the pandemic stymied its progress.

@NODEfather @RepScottPeters This is not about shelter, these are 1,000 veterans who have secured actual housing that would then be forced backwards into shelter which is a temporary solution.

People living paycheck to paycheck or less after serving our country honorably should not lose their housing because the administration decided to wield an unstrategic hammer.

@paulkruegersd @CityofSanDiego @SDCityCouncil The management says that it is a supply chain issue and that has been going on for years. It apparently takes a long time (months to years) to source and secure the parts needed to repair.
