Sometimes I feel like such a failure. What do I really have to show for my life? Not much. I'm going to be 45 in a couple of months, and I feel like I haven't lived at all. I have merely struggled to survive all these years. It would be nice to be able to live a little.

I got nothin. I'm turning 45 in a week. I just feel like my life was wasted. In my case it's not just that I feel like I've accomplished nothing, it's that I don't remember whole years so I don't feel like I've lived that long. It's strange, and rather depressing if I'm honest.

My husband was a single dad with a daughter. She was 7 or 8 when he let her go in the bathroom without him, but even then he found an old lady or a mom to take her in there.

Make him sign an agreement that he doesn't own the copyright until you have been paid. Otherwise, pass. If you're on the fence. Then if he doesn't pay you, post it elsewhere online, anywhere will do. That way if he tries to use it, Google will flag his as duplicate content.

Everyone should! Not only that, I hold the door open for anyone just behind me. It's how I was raised. Old men look at me funny when I hold the door for them, like they aren't comfortable with the "role reversals." To me it's just common courtesy, which is sorely lacking today.

I was a tech support supervisor for a tv company. I took an escalated call where the man didn't want to do any troubleshooting, which was required before sending out a tech. He actually tells me "I'm a lawyer, not a tech guy!" All I asked him to do was unplug it.

I'm poor. People don't understand how I have to think about money. Saving only $3 could be a pack of cigarettes, a half gallon of milk, a gallon of gas, etc. I had to tell the school I couldn't come up with $20 for a field trip with 3 days notice. That was a fun anxiety attack.

Also, people who aren't poor don't understand that it often costs MORE to live paycheck to paycheck than to have a comfortable existence. You always have to pick the cheaper option in that moment, regardless of the fact it won't last.

Gerrymandering. We voted an ammendment to end it in 2018, and our state officials won't impliment it because they would all be without jobs. They have it rigged so the majority has no real say in anything. Mayor Lucas has done a lot for KC, but his hands are tied by those same.

Gabapentin so far has been a game changer for me. I first took it for anxiety, but it helped my pain level so much my primary took over prescribing and upped the dose. I no longer feel like I want to cry 24/7.

I look in the mirror and think, "How did I get so old and fat? That's not me." So I solved the problem by just not looking in the mirror and retaining the self-image of my former self. I'm crazy though, so maybe that solution isn't for everyone.

Yes, but I actually have DID identity disorder, so there are frequently debates from 3 perspectives. Sometimes talking out loud helps me focus in to find a way to move on.

Anxiety has been a huge problem, so I made what I'm calling "meditation in a box." obsidian, rose quartz, a small bell, and soft wax scented like a camp fire. Magic doesn't have to be expensive, use what you have.

Absolutely. I've never taken 3 years off from writing content, but my career is dotted with breaks brought on by burn out. I'm still struggling to write anything but content though. If I won the lottery I would write nothing but fiction and prose all of my days.

I find this question amusing. My SO, truly the love of my life, has the same first name as my youngest daughter's dad, the same middle name as my first husband, and the same last name as the guy I dated after high school. He has all the names of my kids' dads... It's a bit weird.

Oh, my son is an adult. He is having his own complex feelings about this. He has a love/hate relationship with the man. On one hand he's pissed off he was never the dad he should have been, and on the other hand he's still going to miss him being in the world.

I think having a daily word goal is ridiculous. Writing isn't just about the words that end up on the page. It's brainstorming, plotting, character development, prewriting, querying, and submitting. I think it's much more realistic to set aside a specific amount of time.

I realized that the only time I take profile pics when I'm not myself. I have avoided mirrors for a long time, and a selfie is about the same. I've been fighting with myself on a new Pic for a while. Definitely outsid my comfort zone.

I've had dentures since age 35. The thing I hate is that everyone assumes if you lost all your teeth that young you must be a drug user. I've never abused drugs. I have a severe calcium deficiency, had 7 pregnancies in 8 years, and the combination ruined my smile.

I used to boycott Walmart because I didn't like the way they operate their stores or treat their employees. But now I shop there and Amazon almost exclusively because I am disabled and without a vehicle. Those two options are the cheapest and most convenient.

I homeschooled my kids from 2006 to 2009. We didn't have online options. I researched for 3 months to develop lesson plans according to our state's grade level expectations. We had DFS called on us 3 times, all 3 they walked in to the kids already at work. (cont)

Thanks to Covid, we now have legitimate, accredited online K-12 schools that can give every bit the same education that they receive in a school building. Parents today don't know how good they have it. As long as the kids are learning, why does it mattter?

Oh! And people don't understand how outrageously expensive their clothes are. People act like $90 is a reasonable price for a pair of jeans. The most I've ever spent in my life on one pair of jeans was $60, it was only 5 years ago, and I felt guilty for weeks.

I sympathize with parents of preteens, they seem like they grow up overnight. It's hard to let go, and the only advice I have is the advice my father gave me when my girls hit that age - You don't have to like it, you just have to do it.

Go for an afternoon drive. Just get in the car, jump on the nearest highway, crank up the radio, and scream your heart out. When you feel like you've got it out of your system, take the next exit and find a diner for a break, turn around and go home. I miss being able to do that.

Some of us are not physically able to exercise effectively, and regular time in nature isn't always possible. I take 4 psych meds, and trust me, lifting weights and hugging a tree don't cut it as a replacement. I was without meds part of 2020, and we're still suffering for it.

My last job in the workforce was with CVS Caremark. They gave me accommodations of extra breaks as well as leave that I could take as needed. It allowed me to leave early without consequence on bad days. They really did try hard to keep me working, but in the end I just couldn't.

You know what I never see other disabled people talking about? The boredom. The boredom from not being able to do much of anything. Trying to fill endless days with drivel. I'm so tired of being bored.

You can't lump all Americans into one group. Every region has its own dialects. But in my experience us Midwesterners butcher the English language worse than anyone, myself included. I know how to write intelligently, but I'm self-conscious talking to people because of it.

Comic books! They are *not* for children! I have only learned this since meeting my husband. For dyslexic people and those that can't focus on a larger book, they are perfect. Adults with a dark mind will particularly enjoy Batman and the Watchmen. (Hubby is a DC fan lol)

We currently live in a haunted hotel. We've been here for over a year. We're used to weird things happening. But the issues we've had with electronics in the last week are just creepy. Signals of any kind are sketchy at best...

We've been told we shouldn't have a cat because we're homeless. We had him before we became homeless, and he's part of the family. Yes, it is making it slightly harder to find subsidized housing solutions, but really he's not that expensive to take care of.

No. But I met my husband on fb. We had only one mutual friend, and normally I decline friend requests from strangers, but something told me to check with that friend. Here we are 4 years later and I'm happier than I've ever been.

Unsolicited advice: Don't try to quit everything at once. You might be successful at first from sheer will power, but you will be way too miserable and it's not as likely to last. Prioritize your new habits, choose one or two to start with, and add new ones as you are successful.

If not for a drunk driver, today would have been my 27th wedding anniversary to my high school sweetheart. This is the first year that I almost didn't even notice the date. This is the first year I actually love my life as it is, and I'm finally not wishing for what never was.

When I was 10 I slept through a tornado. It went right down our street, blew out all the front windows on our house, carried our picnic table 3 blocks and broke our porch swing in half against a tree. My dad carried me to the basement and I woke up the next morning very confused.

My hubby and I both have a lot of chronic pain, and most of the time there's nothing to do for it. But we both have a habit of asking "Is there anything I can do?" when the other is having sharper pain. We know there isn't, but hearing it really does help it pass.

How much should I pay someone to create illustrations for my children's book if I am giving her credit on the cover and copyright page? I've never collaborated with anyone, and I'm not sure what's reasonable. The artist is young and doesn't know what to charge.

I started the day with a warm apple fritter and a cup of coffee. My bacon cheeseburger for lunch is on its way. Hubby is making yummy beef and noodles for dinner. It's a good food day. :)
